Thinking about sending my SS TRP in for some tricking out:

radical bevel (he said that included a bead blasted satin/matte finish)
undercut frontstrap "Colt style" (Just like a Wilson looks)
flush crown the barrel
install single sided safety

Said it would take about 8 weeks. I'm leaning hard towards getting it done. I think it would be a pretty cool looking SS TRP. I wish they could erase those hideous looking FCS while they had it.

Sounds nice.

They could probably do "Hi-Power" cuts to get rid of the FCS.

I remember seeming a Loaded or TRP in similar specs except they used the Nickel Teflon.

I will tell you, the 8 weeks is typically an understatement. I sent a small job in Aug and still haven't gotten it back yet.

Well, be aware that they will shut the custom shop down soon until the beginning of January. They do this every YEAR - then it takes a little while to catch up.

Could be a very cool add on. Thanks for the idea.

I agree. I have no need for the ambi safety and none of my 1911s have them.

there's a metal spray process we use at work, HVOF(high velocity metal something) that would work perfect for filling in fcs. it's very expensive though. i want to put some on my lawnmower blade but i dont want to lose my job for it.

Got this picture off 1911 Forum. I guess the slide stop is part of the deal. I'll have to call them again and ask.

I hav the non custom version of that when they made them briefly for a few years. They were supposed to replce the Champion. I love mine but I would like a second one in 9mm.

Get the front of the slide contoured like a Browning highpower. That should remove the front cocking serrations. Plus it would definitely stand out in a crowd of regular 1911s.

I don't know if SA does that or not. I may end up selling the TRP and just get a Custom Carry done like I want. (single sided safety, flush crowned barrel and radical bevel) :dunno:

I think I've seen it done. They have more options than what they list on their work order.

IMO, your best bet would be to sell your TRP and start with the CC.

The RB is cool, but they raised the price dramatically. I got it on my CC back under their old prices so I couldn't pass it up.

Yeah, the CC makes more sense and I could sell my SS TRP for $1100 pretty easily I would imagine, which would help fund the CC. I would still want the RB done to the CC though and would eventually have it hardchromed once it started showing some wear. Who knows. We'll see how it goes.

I'd just get it done in HC off the bat. I requested one of mine in Metaloy, which SA had no problem doing.
