I got my VBOB back from Severns Custom today. I had him apply his Hard Hat finish and a couple other custom touches. Someday I will break down and by a camera, but here are a couple really bad cell phone pics

If anyone is considering the Hard Hat finish, go for it. It is a very nice looking finish. It is smooth and the color is very even. I have seen a DW that was done in HH about three years ago and has been carried a lot. It looks new!

I know there is a lot of DW criticism here ,but I like them. Just for fun, here is a picture of my humble DW family

That looks great. Looks a lot like the "Duty Treat" finish on my CCO. :whistling:

Sounds very worthwhile if it is a durable as you say.
How much does severns charge for the refinish?

I like it. Black guns just look good.

I still don't understand the flush cut and deep crowned barrel though.

Is it much trouble to get that monogrammed plug back in the right way up?
Looks like it might be a little tricky to handle.

Very nice, Wade. Thinking about having that done to my CBOB.

What sights are those?

Had Dave Hard Hat my wife's VBOB and my Valor + flush the barrel with the bushing and 11-degree crown, and both triggers at 3 lbs. Went to visit with Dave and his wife Deb in Sept. Missed Dave he was in Carson City doing Hard Hat treatment, but had an enjoyable hour visit with his lovely wife Deb. Totally a class act all the way - would trust Dave to do 1st quality work on whatever 1911 is sent to him

Well honestly I don't know. I haven't taken it apart yet. ( I have finals at school this weak). On the two DWs Chuck Rogers did for me, he put a little piece of metal on the inside of the plug to catch the end of the recoil spring so that you can align it by twisting the spring. I haven't checked to see if Dave does this as well.

"I haven't checked to see if Dave does this as well."

I doubt it.
But he probably will now.
If he can figure out how I did it.

I'm having a CBOB done in black nitride right now. Mine will look similar except I'm doing the barrel too.

Was that originally a stainless Valor, or a black one that you just had him redo with hard hat?
