i've seen pics of this a few years ago and today i found one of my very own.
it's in good shape, but for some reason they changed some parts out to stainless parts. doesn't matter to me because i was going to send it to the SACS to get flat black AK.

FWIW, the TRP CHampion was made from 1999-2001
I guess this find makes up for me getting rid of my Compact a few years ago.

Nice bling accents. Great find man.

at least i didn't see the RRA before i bought this. If the RRA Carry didn't have FCS, then i might have bought it, but at least this keeps me on track to buy the Custom Carry.

I did sell my Trophy Match today, which i made money on.
This is all in effort to go to semi-custom guns or SACS worked guns.
The TRP Champion will get worked over to be similar to my TRP, just an inch shorter and no magwell :animlol:

So where does that leave the EMP and R1?

Quack
12-12-2010, 13:41
the EMP might get shipped to the SACS at the same time for some checkering and refinish, though that is still up in the air if i want to do that or sell it still :dunno:

I brought it to the show to show bobby what he was missing :animlol:
There was 1 EMP9 at the show...for $1179

the R1 is my "project" gun...if i ever get around to it

Thanks!!!
looking at the parts, i'm starting to think that the original owner swapped them for Wilson parts.

Wilson has a barrel for this on clearance, so i might pick that up since it's a bushing barrel instead of a bull barrel.

a TRP Champion? looking at the archives, the TRP Champion retailed for $1175 (back in 1999) and the regular TRP's were $1160. there was a post by Deb (from the SACS) in ~2003 and she said that they could do one for ~$1500 (back then), so

First off, congrats on the nice find.

There is just something I don't like about the bushingless bull barreled SA and Kimbers. Will be neat to see your TRP champion with a bushing.

What are the advantages of the bushing barrel over the bull barrel? Both of my Springfields are bull barrels.

unfortunately i found out that i can't use that barrel because it's for the rare/old champion's and compact's that had a non-ramped barrel. :(

so now my dilema...do i make the TRP Champion all black first, or do it do the R1?
the other option is to skip those 2 for right now and do a ground up build.

Bring the TRP down and well blast it. Then do a ground up build!! The R1 would be cool to see, but i think making the TRP look presentable for the time being and just doing a build, What were you thinking of doing?

Quack
12-13-2010, 19:14
on which one?

the TRP Champ will get Ed Brown parts and a Wilson safety.
i might even go with the smaller Concealment GS and hammer.

Gee Don I wish I had your problems ..
What ever you decide to go wit I am sure it is going to be awesome. Me I would do the R1 first. The TRP C is rare enough already so I would differentiate the R1 from the rest of them.

I was referring to the TRP Champ. You could fit the parts and then spray it to see how you like it. I'm real happy with the Cerakote. There are some real good vid's on the tube as well to attest to its durability. We could also do GunKote which is essentially the same thing as Springer's AK

it's not done yet, i have to blend the top of the GS to the frame. won't do that until right before i refinish it.

BTW, the 20 LPI front strap and the 25LPI MSH will most likely make my hand bleed if i use this in a class. it's much sharper than the current 20LPI checkering on Springfields.
