There's a lot of back and forth it seems about the need to "break in" a new 1911. I've also read that Colts aren't build as tight as Kimbers or Les Baers. That said, what kind of break in routine or procedure would you guys recommend on a new Series 80?

Does it even need to be broken in, or just shoot, clean, and repeat as necessary? Thanks!

That is "breaking it in".

Enjoy your Colt. They are great guns. My "loose" Colt shoot ever bit as well as my tight, jam-o-matic Kimber did.

This is my Series 80, I bought it new last year.

It was pretty much loose enough to be considered "wore out" when I bought it. Everything on it rattles except the locking lugs, but it'll shoot an 8" pattern at 25 yards all day!
