hey i posted this in another thread but since there are always people just in general thinking of baers i wanted to post this up.

www.proload.com (http://www.proload.com)

crazy john @ proload has a sale right now on LB guns with the 1.5" guarantee.
the prices are about as low as you'll ever find if you are considering buying a bear.

there are numerous threads debating the the 'necessity' or 'value' or 'utility' of the 1.5" option basically asking 'if its worth it?' and you'll get different answers depending on who you ask.

one thing that is very reasonable to say no matter which side of the debate youre on is that the 1.5" guns do get a bit more personal attention to fitting.

since the sale is only if you order the 1.5" option it pretty much makes it a no-brainer IMHO in this case. you are for all practical purposes getting the 1.5" option for free or almost free.

hard to find a better fit new weapon for these prices IMHO.

while I can not confirm I suspect they test target all completed baers and those that make the 1.5 cut get sold for more. I think some just come out better than others- do not think they are built from the ground up to be 1.5 guns.
I happen to have a 1.5 premier II- not orderd that way just happened to be the one I found used and it is more accurate than any other gun I have including purpose built bullseye guns

Yes. I've been trying to justify one of those SRPs ever since whomever posted that link a few days ago.

i dunno about that but,
the naked slide, fixed sight, solid trigger'd, magwell'd heavyweight mono 1.5" i just ordered aint gonna be one of many that just 'happened to pass the test'

Don't have a link, but I'm sure I've read from a credible source that the 1.5" guns were built from the start that way, and were not simply "best of breed".

Question: Was there a premium for the naked slide, no FCS, no ambi safety, fixed sight??? I've got an e-mail into CJ, but suspect he's kinda busy.

not from him.
my specs (diff from normal)
naked (he calls it 'sterile') slide - $0
no ambi safety - $0
fixed sights (non bomar) - $0
solid medium trigger (not 3-hole) - $0
blended magwell (w/checkered rather than serrated MSH) - $215

I think a better question would be

"Is anyone not considering a new Baer at those prices"

Me... I don't think any of those guns are worth that much money IMO...

I'm still not on board with the flat triggers, but I'm not a Baer fan at all anymore...

quite a few it would seem. dunno about on this forum posting in this thread.

ive talked to John twice in the last couple of days for this order. both times he was... uncharacteristically brief. not rude or short or anything like that. just not chatty. he told me hes pretty much stacking the orders up.

makes me wanna get my deposit in STAT as thats what actually gets you in line.

Was it any cheaper? The 1.5 option isn't important to me.

I cannot justify the 1.5, but I sure am itching for a third LB especially since I hear prices are going up!

So you're basically getting the 1.5 as a free upgrade? Normally $300ish right?

Basically. I believe Proload sells at a discount to the listed LB prices on the LB website. The 1.5" option is $295 from LB, and I believe Proload sells it for $250, but its "no charge" for purposes of this sale.

I would have certainly bought one if I hadn't just ordered a TRS late November. Paid 1790 shipped without the 1.5" option and with no roll marks or fcs. Hopefully I'll see it March or April.

John told me on Friday that he was changing the name of the company to 1911 Heaven. I believe Proload was the name of his original ammunition company.

Between Don and Brian's evil influence....and Dave/George/John supplying the crack.....I am doomed. :faint:

Would that be the same forum that does not allow negative comments about certain makers?
