View Full Version : Finally took some full collection pics
Everyone, I wanted to share these pics with all of you even though the vast majority of them are not 1911s. Since posting my 1911 family pic, I received a few PMs asking my about my other firearms. In my responses, I had told those people I would eventually get around to taking pics. Well, I finally did, so here you go.
Quality is not great, as I'm not too good at family pics. :embarassed:
Anyway, please enjoy and thanks for looking. As you can see, I have some oddballs. ;)

As for the Daewoo, they are interesting with their tri-actions. I like it quite a bit, though I'd rather have the DH51, which is the 9mm.

Very cool BAC. I think its cool because you hit all ends of the spectrum. Now...
Which one has the most rounds through it?
Which is your favorite out of every category?
Do you keep round counts for all of your guns?

I have been fortunate to be able to stick with it for so long. In my younger days, I used to buy and sell quite a few handguns and long guns. I really regret selling a few of them too, as I'm sure many of you are as well.

Yeah, Ive already learned that selling guns is a bad idea unless you really need the money for something more important. I don't like trading or selling to get something else, its like giving up something you wanted and got, just to get something else you want. Your not really gaining anything. Its always better to wait til you have the money, it makes the purchase that much sweeter in the end. I miss the guns Ive traded or sold and Im gonna replace them. To me, sometimes different guns appeal to me in different moods, and I may be in a mood that doesn't seem to want something too much, like a snub-nose revolver, but if I get rid of it (even though I have several) I will eventually regret it.

Oh sorry... JMO...

I've been collecting handguns since I was 21, which is now 16 years ago.
Having said that, I bought and sold a lot in my younger days. Most of these were probably bought in the last 7 or 8 years.

I will tell you what type of person does it...
He is the type of person that doesn't have the financial stability to have such a nice and extensive collection... So instead of being respectful and courteous to those that have one. He runs his mouth and says it is stupid or pointless... When in all actuality he is just very jealous and bitter because he really wishes he could have it...

Another alternative is, when you get up to around the two dozen mark, they all look alike to the wives.
For instance, when I bought this Performance Center .38 Super:

I changed the stocks to this:

So that it would look like the S&W .45 auto that she shot three months earlier:

Quite frankly , it took a while for a number of folks to recognize Bac's generosity in coaching, assisting and mentoring many of us in the world of 1911s. Prior to that, instead of respect, there was class envy as evidenced by insulting and smarmy remarks. Through it all, I'm happy to have Brian as a friend.
Anyway, not too long ago, I mentioned to Brian that since he has an adequate short gun collection, it's time for him to move on to long guns.

Very nice collection. How do you store them ? Do you have pistol shelves in a safe, or what ?

Which one has the most rounds through it?
Which is your favorite out of every category?
Do you keep round counts for all of your guns?
Thanks.
As far as round counts go, my Ruger Mark III probably has the most. For centerfires, possibly my Sig X-Five.
Colt Pythons are my favorite revolvers.
As for non-1911 autos, I really like the S&W 952 and Sig X-Five. :)

I'm not knockin the collection, I'm at half mast just as much as everyone else here. I wouldn't mind a llama or star as a cheap entry into the 1911 club. Don't think I'd carry it though, it'd be a range toy.

I store them in a room on shelving. While its tight, none of them really ever touch each other, so scratches are avoided.

That's a good question. Al, you're certainly right as far as 1911s are concerned.
As far as non-1911s go, I guess it would be easy for me to say the Hi-Point or Jimenez. They're definitely in the running for sure, but I don't expect much from them. The Walther P22 was a big disappointment from a quality and reliability standpoint.

I would expect that about the Hi point, that is disappointing about the Walther.
The P22 is cheaply built and unreliable with all but the hottest 22lr ammo.
Others have had luck with them, but many have the same experience as me.

I like the Star Model B 9mm. They are sleepers. Very accurate in the right hands. Just because a gun does not hold a huge price tag does not mean it is of poor quality. I would carry that model and have been accurate out to 20 yards with it. Until you have experienced the gun please do not bash it. Also in my book yours is a looker.

bac1023 or Brian if I may, my comment was not made in a negative manner towards you. It was to the gentleman who was not putting much though in a well built firearm. I personally am thinking of buying a excellent condition Model B. By the way again, I really like your Fusion commander. She is so pretty. I just wish everyone would stop asking which 1911 is your favorite. With all the great examples you have obtained I don't think you could possibly have a favorite. Anyhow my point being on the Star rant is that even most of your lower end guns are of good quality.
