So here's a question, it may have been asked before but I would like to gather fresh opinions. If you could only have one 1911 (GASP!!) and I mean the ultimate 1911 in your opinion, what would it be? I mean one!! This is all a means to an end. Whatever seems to be the most popular pistol mentioned may become my newest acquisition if I agree. Even if I don't, I value the opinion of the members of this forum and want to see what the general consensus may be. Factory, semi-custom, custom. You name it.

Marc at Gemini builds a great 1911. I spoke to him a couple times, but haven't "pulled the trigger" yet.

If I ever buy another $5000+ custom, it will be from Marc.

That's actually a big vote of confidence bac. Hopefully Santa is good to me this year and I can get this build going if it's where I decide to lay down the coin.

I think a full build from him is about $6K give or take, depending on options.

I'm not much of a Kimber guy and I own Wilson Combat, Fusion, Nighthawk, Les Baer, Dan Wesson, STI and a couple of Colt/Caspian builds by the late George Madore so I'm most likely going to be heading into the full custom realm. I'm liking Morris as well as the Gemini's too. Anyway, TKR Reptiles huh? I just started a captive breeding project of albino Cape House Snakes and just purchased quite a few red albino Western Hognose snakes. I had a 16 foot female Reticulated Python that bit me in the face near the eye and laid me open pretty good so I stay away from larger snakes now. I've been into reptiles way longer than firearms.

For me, I'd go full-custom if I could only have one. There are so many to choose from, it comes down to preference.

If I had one purchase to do over again, I would have went with a build by John Harrison instead.

If you keep the specs simple, even with a base gun, his prices are comparable to some of the upper SA's, Wilson's, etc. I spec'd one out and it would have cost a little more than a CQB Elite with a Colt as the base gun.

http://www.harrisoncustom.com/Home.aspx

For a factory built pistol, I'd go with a Baer TRS or Wilson CQB...based off of what I've owned.
