View Full Version : Colt Detective Special
I just picked up a Colt Detective Special according to the serial number it was produced in 1965 it is in very good shape. The thing that bothers me is it rattles when I shake it (unloaded of course) is this common for an older Colt?
The answer to your question depends on what you call a "rattle".
If you are referring to a slight "ticking" sound, this is likely the internal firing pin block and completely normal.
If on the other hand, there is movement in the cylinder or trigger/hammer group, this is not normal and indicates a significant problem.
Hope this vague answer is helpful.
After doing an internet search on the matter I realized it was the block gave the colt a good cleaning and oiled it.the next day you could barely hear it.Thanks for the reply.
