I'm calling mine done, I'm 0 for 3. First hunt was on a property supposedly 'loaded with deer', saw two doe scamper across a field before I could even size 'em up. Found a friend with some nice land and hunted over a nice soybean field two weeks ago. I saw two nice doe scamper across in the direction opposite the acorn bait towards the landowner's home at around 600 yds.

Went out again today on another friend's land to his stand overlooking a pond. I'm rather afraid of heights and this sucker was up there, I could barely climb it in daylight- no way I'm climbing down in the dark. So I set up shop at a nice vantage point and while managing to stay still and cramp both quads, didn't see a single animal. This is in the Central NC season, I have heard both good and bad results so far. I *might* try to get out again tomorrow, there is a blizzard being whispered about on the East Coast and so maybe we don't have to see the outlaws after all.....

Merry Christmas!

Still have an archery tag good for 2 deer. Dec 31st is the last day, and not so sure I'm going to get it filled. Have not been seeing any deer. Shot 3 earlier in the season though so can't complain too much.

Have only shot one small button buck.

Worst season in a long time, but I have until March 26th to shoot some more.

Best season i have ever had and i have had some great seasons.....and some bad ones. Im not trying to be mean but if you only went out 3 times then what do you expect. I have set about 85 days so far and have one tag left. I took my biggest buck to date this year and another great buck. Both of these are bow kills, never shot a deer with a gun.

Only a couple days left but I think it is over. I saw 11 "does" yesterday and 4 this morning.

Yesterday, I saw a big doe pee funny so I looked closer with the binoculars, "she" was a buck that has lost his horns.

I've been passing up does and little bucks since the 11-pointer I took in ML season.

Well good for you!
Heck, if I could get that much stand time I'd more than likely finally take my limit of unicorns and maybe that elusive (and blurry) Sasquatch!
Maybe next year.

I got this buck about 3 weeks into the season in Mason Co., Texas. He was about 100 yards from the stand. He was 5.5 to 6.5 years old judging from his teeth. He weighed 121 field dressed. Heavy bugger to load in the truck.

Here is my sons finishing year story:
My 10yr old son got his first deer on the 28th! Not sure who was more excited, him or me This was the 4th person I've sat with while they were shooting their first deer, always thought it was neat but this topped it by far
We hunted in the morning next to a corn edge that I have seen them in quite a bit and thought for sure it was going to be slam dunk hunt for him and his rifle. Not a single deer all morning. Ate some lunch then killed some time until 3pm.

Thought I was going to have to duct tape his mouth between noon and 3 if he asked me one more time if we were ready to get back out there He was awfully figity during the few hours in the morning and I knew they were not going to move till atleast 4pm, so going out at noon he would've been bored out of his mind!

Sooo...we get sat down next to the corn at 3pm. By 3:30 he's saying he doesn't think were going to see anything, getting talkative, figity ect. Glad we didn't sit at noon

Well 4 rolls around still nothing moving, then at 5pm I saw a buck moving through some trees about 125 yards away. I let him know he was there, and even though he wouldn't of been able to shoot him I wanted him to see it. He peeled those woods apart trying to see him, but didn't. Must not have the eye yet That buck walks on. About 5 minutes later he comes back through the same spot going the other way. My son still couldn't pick him out, but by now you can tell his adrenaline is pumping.

I notice a deer walking through the grass field from our left at about 60 yards. Whisper to him that he has one coming, but due to a tree in front of him he can't see it yet. He moves a bit, I tell him to hold tight. Of course he moved! Deer looks directly at us for about a minute or so. Luckily doesn't go into alarm and spook off. It continues on and my son gets his first look. I heard the breathing start! Now the deer is quartering hard towards us, head down 40 yards. He's got the rifle on it, I tell him to hold off for it to turn for a broadside.

Something tells the deer that not all is alright in the area and it lifts its head real quick and stares right at us again. Starts doing the slow high hoof lift and tail shake thing. Not long before this deer bolts. I ask if he has a good shot? He said yeah, I said take it. BOOM, the deer dropped in its tracks! My son stood right up and repeated to say "I got a deer"!

Paidfor, those are Hill County TX residents. Deer has been scared silly in my part of Fl and pretty much went into a nocturnal nature :crying:

I would be lucky to say if I seen more than 5 deer this whole season. It's been very bad to say they least, but I have about 3 more weeks of activity for deer & I'm not giving up.

Also that is a nice a buck btw, congrats & curious as to what you used ( ammo ).

I actually have cell phone video 10 seconds after the shot. I've watched it several times! Better than any deer I've ever taken! I still have 2 younger kids that I can't wait to have the moment with also.

Well my last three deer seasons were a bust, but it is always enjoyable to get the opportunity to hunt! I hope next year will be better? I saw plenty this year but only had a doe tag and saw all bucks? Go figure. Oh well. Esox357.

I finished my season with both of my antlerless tags filled.

Shot a 3 1/2 year old, 106 pound field dressed doe on November 15, and a 5 1/2 plus year old, 94 pound field dressed doe on December 11.

Only saw one buck, a yearling 6 point that I passed.

It takes alot to pass up a young buck when your not seeing any. I congratulate you on letting the little guy walk. Can't kill good deer if you dont let the littles ones age alittle.

The last day of flintlock muzzleloader season today and I managed to get a doe. This is the first deer I've taken with a flintlock. I was begining to think I was not going to get one this year. Put your time in guys, it pays off.

This is the first year in a long time I didn't get my deer by the end of regular rifle season. So out came the old flintlock, in all honesty I hate that gun. I guess I really did want one. The average temperature during the season ranged from mid teens in the mornings with highs in the mid to upper 20's. I hope I don't have to count on it next year.

Great - I killed a 200+ lb Georgia 11 pointer with my bow while he was standing less than 10 yds from his twin brother (really it was his twin - I've been watching them together off and on since they were in spots)..

I haven't seen the twin since his brother went down but just maybe he'll show back up next year during early season.

Thanks noway. It was literally the most intense hour of deer hunting that I've ever had up to the shot. I was covered by deer on 3 sides and had 3 shooter bucks all jockeying for who got shot first as I was loosing light fast. With 15 minutes of light left I was thanking God for thwhack sounds and blood soaked arrows.
