So what is the better choice here?

I have two RRA rifles and am familiar with them. I've had good luck with them. But on the surface, the ARP upper looks like a nicer upper for a better price. Am I wrong on this?

Which one of these should i go with or is there another brand that i need to check out?

I'd go with ARP.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: my AR Performance 6.8 upper is phenomenal.

Do you know if it is possible to get it without that white lettering up top? Not a fan of that. Great looking rifle by the way..

On the page you linked, you can put that as an option. I'd want a Troy VTAC handguard instead of the crappy MI one though, like Belly's.

If I ever have the cash to feed a 6.8, that's the exact upper I'm getting. Toss on a set of Troy BUIS, Surefire G2X Tactical, and maybe a Trijicon TR24. Sweet upper.

That may very well be the one I go with. So overall, ARP has a pretty good rep huh?

I've never heard anything bad about them.

AR Performance,.......... WAY better than RRA.
I built mine a while back,.........Bison Armory is another manufacturer to look into.

I have a 16-inch mid-gas-length RRA upper on a CMMG lower. I am very pleased with its performance at 100m using the Silver State Armory 110-gr SP ammo.

to the OP: What is the purpose of the 6.8 that you seek?

Hunting? Plinking? Tacti-cool? Home Invasion? Zombies? All of the above?

I got mine for predator control/varmint and maybe a deer or two.

Do you reload or shoot factory? That stainless VTAC is an 11 twist 4 groove barrel with a SPCII chamber, the black barrels are 11.25 twist with 5R rifling and a 6.8x43 Hi-perf chamber, they are a little faster and will last longer. Both come with high strength 9310 alloy bolts and M16 carriers. Our 16" 5R barrels are faster than most 18" barrels and some 20" barrels.
If you don't want logos on the receiver just call Donna in the office 719-547-0233, save $20 by paying with a MO.

The receivers are billet and are manufactured by Quentin Defense.

I guess all of the above. It will mainly be a hunting gun, but it's kind of a do-it-all gun really. I am already really well setup when it comes to .223 guns, so i won't be buying a bunch of 6.8 mags or anything like i have for .223.

I suppose it's mainly a hunting gun, which might get duty as a home defense gun. It will be used for my wife to hunt deer with as she's recoil sensitive (read: scared) and i think this gun will be about as low recoil as you can get in a deer-ready caliber. She is also a big fan of shooting my other AR's so it shouldn't be much of a switch for her. It's also just because i've wanted a higher power AR for a long time and just don't want to spend the money to build/buy an AR-10 platform gun.

I will be reloading for this gun, just have to get dies for it as i only reload .223 at this point. So the gun comes exactly as pictured there on the site, correct, unless i choose to add anything in the option drop-downs? Is there any wait time or should it ship pretty quickly?

Who makes that upper is what i meant. Is that a bison upper or ARP?

I assembled it,......Quentin Defense receiver, Bison Armory barrel & ITS SuperBolt,
RRA bolt carrier, Troy low-pro gas block, VTAC guard, YHM flash hider, Troy sights,
Larure Tactical SPR mount, Leupold VX-III scope.

Very cool. Great looking rifle.

What bipod is that? I don't have one on either of my other AR's, but this new one is going to get one.

We build those pretty quick, as long as the suppliers didn't take from Christmas to after SHOT off.
