sold one of my guns today, and I have decided that an SP2022 is to be its replacement. The few new ones I have been able to locate, have been priced around 399 + tax with only 1 mag. I have seen two used that look pretty good. This one, is a two tone, with 2 mags and NS, asking $475

and this one with 3 mags and NS asking $430 obo.

from traded emails, the stainless one has more rounds through it since its currently on its second owner who says he shot several hundred. The black one has around 500 rounds.

or should I just wait and buy new?

Any help or opinions from seasoned Sig folks, would be appreciated by this Sig Noob. Please send comments via email

Thanks,

Allen

In general, a used semi auto is better broken in than a new one, so...I tend to buy used rather than new. YMMV.

In general, most pistols don't need to be broken in.

The Sigpro is one of them.

I'm cheap so I shop price. $399.00 for a 9mm Sig is very good. I'd buy that. The fact that it's new is pretty cool too. Just put a couple hundred rounds through it before you rely on it. Not because it's a Sig but because it's a machine. If you buy a new car you put a few hundred miles on it before taking it on a long trip and before it's considered "broken in". Do the same with a pistol. It's a machine and it has a warranty because machines break. Excercise it, let it show you it's reliable, learn what it likes to shoot, learn its quirks (if any),then put it into service.

BTW, I don't think you can make a bad decision with these pistols. I got a chance to shoot a 2022/9mm a couple months ago. NICE PISTOL!

I tend to agree. My last Sig purchase was a German (triple serial number) SigPro, and the trigger was noticeably better than my much more expensive P220ST which I eventually sent to Sig for their $150 Action Enhancement Package to fix DA stacking and SA grit. (This was not an SRT setup).

In my opinion, Sig quality has improved from its low point, but still Exeter needs to focus on getting the triggers back to earlier standards.

TYhe SIG 2022 is a very fine pistol and you will enjoy it-I love mine. Shop around. I have seen them on the net as low as $345 with night sights, new in box. The all German ones are cool if that is your preferance. SIG of Exeter's newest released model has an external extractor and that would be my choice. Bill

Before you buy them, you may want to inspect the rails of the frame very carefully for gouging or wear on the rails.

Some P229's have gouging in certain areas where the black finish is worn away down to the metal.

Just purchased a SIG 2022 from Bass Pro for $399, less $30 I had on my rewards card so with tax it was still under $400 out the door. This is the standard sight version which I wanted anyway since I had a light ready to go for it.

229 vs. 2022:

Totally different rail design between the two.

That is a good price on the one from GT If you want a DAO, but I would buy new and get DA/SA.
