View Full Version : 1911 - The First 100 Years (Book)
Just got the book today. It's by Patrick Sweeney, you have probably read his writings in a gun magazines or his "The Gun Digest Book of the 1911" Vol.1 & 2.
1911 - The First 100 Years is a hardcover book and 286pages long. It has a lot of photos. It covers the year 1911, the trials leading up to the acceptance, to the some of the current day 1911 smiths. I just got it late this afternoon and i'm on Chapter 4 (of 18) right now.
It's $30 at the store, but it's $20 on Amazon. Well worth the cost for a 1911 enthusiast.

since it's after Christmas, I'm sure you're not the only one that got a gift card to a book store.

That's for sure. ;)
I like Sweeney's 1911 books. I've got the other ones.
Has anyone read this book?
I want to be sure it's not just another cut and paste job from his previous
1911 books.
I hope it's new material and photos.

Hows the page and binding tollerance?
Good question. I'm worried that, despite dropping $30 on this book, that I'll have to send it right back to the factory to get the ramps polished and a trigger job.
Nothing worse than a book that occasionally fails to eject.

I'll be buying it for sure. Pat Sweeney is a great writer and a true 1911 lover.

I almost skipped past this thread thinking it would be some dry, boring, technical read about a book I could care less about. Then I remembered where I was...

I saw this book at B&N tonight as I was browsing. Just put it in my cart at Amazon.com. Looks like a great book with just about everything in color! Can't wait to get it.
The offer at the bottom of the page for three of his books looks like a good deal too.
Just bought it on my Kindle (and it looks great on the Kindle app on my HTC Evo as well). Thanks for the tip.
