Well folks it just so happens I won my fantasy football league, which is great because I get a few $$$. With any windfall profits and an active internet connection; one must post the obligatory 1911 for $1K thread.

Looking for new or used options. I would prefer stainless, however, I think this is my mild case of iophobia to rust...

1911 possible uses
- CCW
- Range fun
- companion when hunting
- posting pics on the internetz

In all seriousness what would you guys/gals recommend?

My response never changes. The STI Trojan is my model of choice.

A used TRP is another option, but I prefer the Trojan for range use.

STI Ranger or Trojan.

The Trojan....but if you're going to carry then the Ranger2.

There are a BUNCH of reviews in the resource thread: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1269683

But, I too would suggest a Trojan.

Thanks for the recommendations. Lobe the fact that sti is local. I find it odd that sti makes so few ss models.

My vote is for the Trojan as well! The Ranger II would also be a great option.

Your local to STI and your asking us these questions! Jeez! Go get you one already!

That's fine with me, I much prefer carbon steel 1911s.

I really feel its a better material for the platform. So do quite a few others.

This is sex. Is this an option from STI or did you have someone else do the work? I want one bad, just need to make some more money :crying:

You can get one hard chromed as a custom order from brazos. $300 upgrade. No idea on timing.

So $1300 for a hard chrome Trojan? Expensive, but so sexy....:dunno:

I've said a few times that I think SS is a poor choice compared to carbon steel for most pistol components.

Nice Quack,

I spent the better part of last night reading about 1911's. Wow there is a lot to taken in...
