View Full Version : AR project **UPDATE**
Well she's almost finished. Just waiting on the accesories to arrive in the mail. I ordered a Magpul VRG and since this whole build was on a budget i decided to go with a primary arms M4 optic instead of a high dollar aimpoint or eotech. Also I still need to order a back up iron and a sling. Here's a few pics of it almost completed

Also thinking about mounting a light. I narrowed it down to either a TLR-1 or a Fenix TK15 in a DD offset light mount. Which do you guys prefer and why?

The Fenix will be WAY brighter than the TLR1. I've used TK12s on a couple of different long guns, and they're fantastic lights.
I have a TK11 I carry for work and it rocks. I'm leaning towards the Fenix too but I see a lot of guys run the TLR1 so i figured I'd ask.
Mailman just brought more goodies. The RVG and PA M4

Looks good. Have you shot it yet??
Not yet. I just got everything in about an hour ago. Ammo is comming from PSA in the next couple of days. I'm thinking maybe Friday if the range is open I can squeez off a few rounds and sight it in.

Congrats on the new build. I myself just build my first AR. What a fun journey that is eh? It's getting paperwork started for SBR tomorrow :D Looks good! Give us a range report.
I think I'll be able to hit the range this coming weekend. Although I'll be limited to a indoor 50yd range due to the weather here in Michigan.

I think I just ordered that same upper for my current budget build. I've heard a lot of good things about Del-Ton. The complaints seem to be from people who don't own them.
I finally got a chance to get out and put a few rounds through it. I was very impressed with the way it shot and one I got it sighted in, it was quite accurate off the bench. I put a total of 100rds through it today. 80 of federal xm193 and 20 of Tula 55gr. Ate all of them without a hitch but the difference in recoil between the xm193 and the cheap tula was very noticable. Here's a group of a few rounds at 50 yards before sighting in. All were taking standing up not off a bench. I think for a standing 50 yard that's not a horrible group but I can definitely do better.

The del-ton warranty is voided one you shoot steel cased ammo, just so you know. That was my reason I didn't follow through with del-ton.

Didn't say that any of the paper work they sent with the upper. I've heard that before but to be honest with you I could care less. It shoots it just fine. The only issue i've seen with steel cased ammo on other firearms is more wear and tear on the extractor. If that transfers over to the AR i can live with that. Don't need a warranty to change an extractor. If you guys know of any other issues besides that on AR's please enlighten me so I don't damage something I may not want to.
Here's a few pics of it all finished. Sorry for the crappy quality but my camera is down so i had to use my phone
