I wasn't expecting this so soon, but getting it early was nice. I have to give George at Gunslingers credit. I doubt he's on this site but if I decide to post on TOS I'll just copy this.

George ordered this pistol for me without receiving my deposit to save me from NH's price increase. If that wasn't good enough, he sent me this BEFORE my Cashiers Check reached him. I doubt too many people would do this, just speaks volume for him and way I'll buy from him again in the future.

Now, on to the pistol.

I decided to strip it down just to see how things looked and felt. I have noticed four nice features

1. This frame does have the VIS - I know this isn't 100% needed off the bat, but it's there.

2. The guide rod has a bevel to minimize impacting the lower lugs. After noticing some wear on my recent SA Custom that didn't have this bevel, I've been paying attention more.

3. The slide has a bevel/recess for the disconnector. There was a post on TOS about this but I'm too lazy to look for it. None of my other 1911's have this so this just caught my eye.

4. The slide stop has a recess so that it pushes straight in. This helps to prevent idiot scratches, again something none of my other 1911's have.

I won't shoot this until after this weekend, I may do a range report or comparison vs my SA Custom. One nice thing that was unexpected was NH included a Dawson rail adapter. Too bad I already had one, but I'll either keep it around or sell it.

The trigger on this NH is perfect, not too light and has the perfect break. My SA feels a little sloppy in comparison so I may end up getting that looked into.

The barrel lockups tight with no play, the barrel bushing is much looser than a Baer or SA but that doesn't bother me.

NH didn't tune the grip safety as well as I would have liked. I have all my 1911's so that it takes the least amount of pressure to disengage the GS. This is a simple fix.

The only gripes I have are the magazine release feels like it has a weak spring and the magwell could have been blended a little better. Again, easy fixes.

I didn't take much time with photos, I'm lazy this time of year.

Thanks all.

I foolishly sold my railed SA Pro last year, but I feel this one should make up for it nicely.

What was your build time ?

The order was finalized on 8/31 or 9/1...it was quoted at 16-20 weeks, so I was surprised about getting it so quick figuring I went with Ionbond.

Probably the most no nonsense, pure business Nighthawk that I've ever seen. Love the slide stop recess. I can't recall ever seeing that before. Is that a Melonite finish too? If not, Melonite would set that baby off big time. Very clean and sharp.

I like how NH does their recess. SA's is nice but they mainly cut it flush, NH's is easier to remove. Both are great though.

The finish is Diamond Black (Ionbond)

I'm a little weary of Melonite after talking with a few builders. I might try it one day but just not now.

Thanks, naked slides are pretty common lately.

I decided to hit the range late last night and figured I'd give a summary report. I wanted to go today, but since I go late at night, I don't want to be on the roads given it's New Years Eve.

I fired 100 rounds and a buddy fired 50, so nothing spectacular on the round count.

Before I got to the range I knew of one problem. This pistol would not lock the slide on an older Wilson 47D. It works in my other pistols but for some reason it wouldn't lock this one. My other Wilson mags work fine so this wasn't a big deal.

It fired excellent, it hit POA, which is a problem I've had with Heinie's in the past. I've always needed a 6 o'clock hold with Heinie's, so this was a nice surprise.

It was plenty accurate, I had no problem keeping all my rounds in the black at 50ft.

When my buddy shot he had 1 FTF, it got caught on the ramp. Since he was shooting his eloads, I can't say if it was the pistol or not. I had no problems with my ammo, even with the light attached, so that was a good thing.

The NP3+ on the barrel is wearing off quicker than I expected. I knew it would, I just went with it since the extra lubricity of NP3 on the barrel shouldn't be a bad thing.

I really like this pistol so far, but I'll give a no BS assessment once I get 1500 or so rounds through it. I may not use it for CCW, but I chose the Dawson so I could and it will still work for HD.

Congrats on a great choice! Probably one one of the best NHC along with the Heinie Tactical Carry, IMHO.

The Vickers Caspian frame they use for the Enforcer is great.
