Hey Guys,

I got a cheapo mount from Dealextreme for my 870, and it seems like it's going to do what I want if the placement is OK. It's mounted directly to the barrel and not the mag extension; will that be a problem? I like where the flashlight is located using the mount, (old school Surefire 9Z with a LED upgrade), because I can access the tailcap switch with my thumb. If I want momentary use I can press the switch, or I can just roll the tailcap with my thumb for constant-on.

The mount works perfectly with the cut-down section of the 9z and with the dia. of the barrel. The dia. of the extension is bigger than the barrel and I don't think it would mate as well with the clamping service of the mount, so hopefully it won't be a problem. Let me know what you think and I appreciate the info. Sorry for the crappy 3g iPhone pics... Happy New Year!

I would move it to the mag extension. If the vertical plate is in the way it would only be slightly and you could notch the plate so the light will clear. You will be less likely to have that clamp slide under recoil if it was on the mag tube extension. Just food for thought since you asked.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'm going to heed JD's sage council and move the mount to the mag extension. I should be able to get the same placement by just flipping the mount 180 degrees - I wouldn't be able to access the screws if I simply moved the mount down. I'm glad you replied JD!

And don't think the CDM mount hasn't been considered! I thought I would try the $3.00 option first! Happy New Year!
