Just recently I've started having a problem getting my mags to lock in. It's getting worse. I have to jam it several times or press the release button to get it to lock in. I can't trust it now. Rifle is M&P. Weapon is reasonably clean. Ideas would be appreciated.

What brand of mags? Are they fully loaded?

Mags are mostly Magpul. Not fully loaded. 28 or less. Weapon treats them like they are over loaded. Thanks,

Pull your mag release and inspect it and polish any rough spots or burrs. See how far the mags insert through the hole with the release out. Check with standard GI mags. Some lowers have problems with P-mags due to insufficient bevel on the bottom of the mag well.

Yes, check to see if it does that with GI mags. I have a M&P rifle that doesn't quite like the 20 round Pmags that I use. It takes it just fine but it doesn't always drop free when I push the button.

Adjust he mag release. Could have weakened from a bad spring. Or replace it.
Take the upper off & then try it.
