Anyone have an early 2008 like this one I picked up?

I am curious to see if anyone else doesn't have a Stainless Barrel bushing. Gun runs great, I had one and it was identical minus that and the barrel was marked differently.

Grips came in, figured I toss a couple photos up.
You guys chime in, something younger than number 30

I LOVE THESE GRIPS

ok, now, the valor is number 23, from 08.
Not a spot on it until My stupid ass thought something was stuck on the side, it was but when I got it to move it left a small scratch. not deep at all, but it's duty coat so it's not going anywhere.

Either way I intend on carrying this one and unless something really bad happens I won't sell it a 2nd time!

My 08 Valor had the barrel bushing in black Cerakote like the rest of the gun - no stainless.

Was your barrel marked?

Yep.

Mine is 24th Valor built.

BTW, those Punisher grips would have been off the gun before I even got it home.

That pimped Valor would go well with one of these:

As do I, though I had mine bobtailed, competition trigger and sight work done by Dan Wesson before it left the factory.

This is most likely the precursor for the Valor Bobtail model now currently in production. :)

I am sorry,

You think having Ed Strange build an original one off of the very first Wicked Grip made, done in Celleron Ebony with Titanium inlay on an all black gun is pimp crap with nasty wheels?

Really, you think those grips suck? I may not be the best photographer, it's not cheap crap from ebay.

It came with the exact same Micarta's in the photo shared. Identical.

The grips I waited 2 years for. I don't know what to say

I don't think anyone is questioning the quality of the grips or the talent it took to make them. In our opinion, they just don't look at home on an otherwise classy 1911 like the Valor.

To each his own, and obviously, you feel otherwise. If you think they look good, keep them on there. Its that simple. However, not everyone has your tastes and we aren't shy about opinions around here.

I'll stop trying to add here.
No where else out of the 7 forums i read daily would speak that way to someone showing a gun, nor has anyone ever, including me, been done that way by other gun lovers.

I really don't get why it was necessary to make any negative or rude comments on a shared couple photos someone took time to post to add and try to settle in posting instead of just reading.

I can say I made the attempt

Sorry you feel this way. I feel this is the best 1911 forum on the web, bar none. Albeit, members aren't afraid to speak out here.

Please don't take it so personally. You have a great 1911 there and if you like the grips, that's all that matters.

I have, not only grips, but plenty of actual firearms others don't like and I couldn't care less. :dunno:

However, you have a very nice firearm and if you like the grips that is all that matters... It is your gun after all...

No, not the best, not being that way to people who you know are trying to break the damn ice and hang out. That's not even hazing, it's just flat rude. But like I said I'll stop trying, 3 times is good.

This is what the Valor wears
I sold my Nighthawk and had no black gun to put the grips on for photos.

The photos were to show the Valor, I should make sure my grips match my gun next time,

These are Wicked Grips as well sir, and I am sure something is wrong with them to someone as well. The best 1911 sites on the net treat each other with respect.

The reason you don't see a lot of negative things on the other forums is because you either get banned for it or it gets deleted very quickly. That is the difference between us and the rest. Here we are treated like grown ups and as long as we don't go way out of line.

It seems that way since the bobtail Valor was announced shortly after I got mine from Dan Wesson after a 9-10 month wait.

Originally, I just called to ask about an ambi-safety, one idea led to another, and the above is the result. I also tried the same tactic with Les Baer "Custom" regarding minor custom work, i.e., no FCS and a bobtail, and was put off. Baer's idea of custom is their design. But I degress... :)

"Ed Strange?" Well that explains everything.

Seriously, personally, I like the materials and quality; it's the gang-banger motif that is in question. If it's a carry weapon, why a 10 round mag?

Finally, if you ever have to use that thing in a serious situation, a lawer will most likely make unfavorable points to the jury with that setup. IMO

The best 1911 sites on the net treat each other with respect.

Respect is just part of the picture. The best sites are the ones that can answer all of your questions or concerns.
Just because someone diss's your grips or choice of gun or anything else is nothing more than a person's opinion.
Should it make any difference to you?
It shouldn't.
It is not meant to be a personal attack on you, just an opinion.
Feel free to voice your opinion right back. Just don't walk away from a good forum because someone hurt your feelings.
I think that the ammends have already been made in the fact that everyone already said if these grips are cool to you then it is cool with us.
Your gun, your choice.
My advice to you is to man up a bit and say "hey, screw you guys for saying crap about my grips", and move on to the next subject.
We won't take it personal, and hope you come back and contribute to the forum and learn to be part of the family.

I called Les Baer "Custom" last summer, and a gal in "sales" (order taker) passed me over to some guy who supposedly makes "custom" decisions.

I asked him if he could do some minor custom work by giving the frame a bobtail, skipping the slide past the FCS and billboard process, and build with the 1.5" at 50 option.

His response, "We don't do that." ... click.

I never got to discussing a Quack trigger, hammer, grip safety, paint, or anything else. :dunno:

Nice!

Sarge does great work. I had him make up a set for the Valor. The primary criteria was creating a palm swell that KN Nill is famous for. Between the bobtail and the guips, this pistol is the most comfortable one I own or shot, and that's what custom grips should really be all about, annd less about the cosmetics. (IMO)

You can see the palm swell profile in the last shot.

Not sure I mentioned it, but the Colt came back with a new slide, extractor, barrel, and barrel bushing. The slide and frame markings are defined (no cratering) as they should be.

My plan is to have Grayguns gut it and set it up the way he'd want it before I mess with the finish or grips. I'm leaving the sights, trigger, and hammer 1918 period original.
