Ok so I posted on here not to long ago about a DPMS I found at a gun show. A few people on here an a personal friend said it was over priced. Well here I am back again lol. This time its a bare bones 16" flat top # for 700. This sound like a better deal?

is it new or used???? new that sounds like an OK price...used sounds like it's over priced. i had a DPMS AP4 in 308 and it was a damn good rifle. accurate, 100% reliable and very well built with perfect fit and finish. i only sold it to pay off some debt and regret getting rid of it. how much money are you looking to spend? there are a lot of entry level AR15's you can buy NIB for 800 dollars +/- so shop around to find the best deal. CDNN recently had SW M&P15 on sale for 599 so you might want to check them out first.

DPMS rifles are not worth anymore then $600 new. For any of the 5.56 models.
Do your research. You can get a better featured AR for only about $800 currently.
Check out AIM surplus, BCM, spikes.
DPMS AR's are not bad. They are good & they work for most shooters. The problem is price points. The AR market is flooded, Everyone makes good quality AR's now. The Price differences between a low end & mid range AR is small. May as well not eat lunch for a week & save $ & get the better AR.

You can get a better rifle for, like fuzzy said, slightly more.

When he showed me the first DPMS for $870 I told him just to buck up and get this Daniel Defense AR from AIM http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1DD20017&name=Daniel+Defense+XV-EZ+M4+Carbine+.223/5.56+Rifle&groupid=11

But if he didnt want to go that route to build a lower and just buy a upper from stag http://www.stagarms.com/index.php?cPath=14_24

Could even buy a Del Ton kit and then all you need is a stripped lower

If its the sportical with no dust cover they are like $600 new. Unlike the folks here I dont mind DPMS and cheap AR's because I have had a few and ran them just as hard or harder then most have ran their high speed AR's and I have not had any problems. So if you want a cheap AR go ahead.

If its got a dust cover the price is ok (probably the Oracle), if it doesnt have one (probably sportacle) its over priced.

I owned a Bushmaster years ago and I had nothing but issues with it, I mean I would hit the range and it would be all good the first hundred rounds or so and then I would have tons of FTFs and FTEs. So I would rather but a higher range AR. Im planning on a Spikes Tactical lower and a AAC 9" blackout upper.

Especially when a Stag can be had for not much more than that($775) and IMO is a way better rifle.

trlcavscout your right its the Oracle, I could not remember the name but it started with a O. There are 2 reasons I am looking at this gun. The first is I do not want to part a rifle together. Call me lazy but it does not appeal to me. At the same time I am not looking to buy offline. I want to pay the $ an have it in my hand. In the end I was hoping to stay under a grand for it. I have not seen any in that price range at any gun shop in the area or any gun show other then the DPMS.

I might brake down for a del-ton kit.

What ever you do,....get a GOOD barrel, bolt carrier group, and trigger.
If you skimp on these, you compromise reliability & accuracy.

Agreed. For the price, it's hard to beat Stag Arms.
