Was wondering what 1911 purchases where going to be made this year to celebrate 100 years of the 1911.

I bought mine at the end of December and picked it up on the 2nd. I waited for parts to come in to change out the plastic MSH to a Nighthawk Custom w/magwell, 80 series deletion plate and Nighthawk GI style guide rod and plug which came in today and some blue grip screws I had on hand. I was going to change the grips so it didn't look like every other Combat Elite out there but I like them way to much.

I know its early but I couldn't wait until March.

On top of this purchse I plan to shoot my 1911s a whole lot more. Even though I carry Glocks now mostly, I do carry my RIA compact from time to time. The 1911 will always be my favorite platform.

I got mine a couple months ago. It's a CA approved Dan Wesson PM7. It's a 2010 version with forged frame. No MIM what-so-ever. I really like it alot. It's just about everything I wanted in a 1911. Lotsa Ed Brown parts, etc.

It's very accurate with its match barrel and Bomar-esque adjustable sights. First mag I ran through it:

I'm putting some grey/black VZ Operators on it as soon as they arrive via USPS. :) The factory DW-marked Checkmate mags kind of suck, but I'm running it mostly with Wilson Combat Elites.

Happy 100 year B-Day!

I would like to be able to send my EMP off to John Harrison for some work, but he sure charges a LOT of money.

I would also like to learn and build my own bobbed commander.

I won't receive my Wilson ULCc until February or March and my TRP landed at SACS last Thursday, but wasn't logged in until today, so it'll be mid to late March at best on it. Do those count, since I won't receive them until 2011? As for something that wasn't started in 2010, I'd really like to get an EB. Either the SFC or possibly the 100 year gun shown above. :dunno:I like the KC, but you see alot more of them than the SFC. I think it's just fitting to have a bobtailed gun from the man himself.

I'd like to see if I can pick up a WWI-styled Colt. We'll see. Money is tight.

I have one; you will love it.

My dream for this year is the Ed Brown pictured above. I just don't see me scraping up the money, but I'm figuring hard how to get her to believe I need it more than she needs a remodeled bathroom. I'm struggling. Where there's a will there's a way.

a compact 1911.

its ironic that the phillipines are the reason we have the 1911, and some darn good ones are made there now.

I'm having a Colt built by Novak's, but other than it, I don't have anything major planned. I have a few 1911's that were ordered last year to still trickle in.

The only way I'm getting anything big this year is if I sell one off, which I may do. I have all year to plan it out.

I'm hoping to pick up an Ed Brown, Wilson, and quite possibly something from SACS this year. And on a non-1911 note, I've wanted a Colt Python for years, 2011 could be the year. :)

Defiantly snap some photos to show it off. You'd have a task finding someone who does not like their RIA 1911.

It would seem inappropriate to get anything other than a Colt.

I have a Wilson CQB Elite on the radar for the short term and have a Springfield Pro on order, but it may be 2012 before it actually shows up. I really like the idea of the centennial guns, but no way could I let them sit in the safe. Besides, that's pretty much blows my gun budget for the year.

Last year I got a PRO and CQB. I'm not sure I can do any better this year, as those have been excellent pistols.

I'm celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1911 by reloading for it. I've reloaded 9mm solely since I started a few months ago for my Beretta and Glock, but have put my .45's on the back burner. I have the dies, brass, and powder, I just need bullets and primers to get the .45 'production' churning.
