Got theese two to choose from or Colt Commander. Around $750 -800 to spend. Any suggestions?

I have all 3 and I like the Champ Op the best.

Why not Kimber? Is it the aluminum frame or the overall quality?

Definitely the Champ Operator

Nothing wrong with the Kimber, I just like the Champ Op out of the three.

I liked my PC2, but if I was buying another $800 commanderish gun....I'd go with the Springfield this time.

I am still new here and my opinion doesn't count that much, but I have a pro carry II and love it. I am a better shot with it then my friends ss kimber, don't let the aluminum frame bother you, its real nice for carry.

I don't like that Kimber won't put ramped barrels into their aluminum framed guns. I've owned 1 aluminum framed Kimber, and will never buy one again unless they switch to ramped barrels.

The 5" Kimber Supercarry looks super sweet. But with the aluminum frame, I'll pass because of the non ramped barrel.

Springfield puts a ramped barrel in their lightweight champion. I assume that the Champion Operator is ramped as well.

Must be a .45 thing. My 9mm Pro Carry had a ramped barrel.

Yes, it is a 45 thing. Not all 9mm 1911s are ramped, but most are - even if on a steel frame.

My 5" Custom Shop Full Rail Operator in 9mm has a ramped KART barrel.

I would trust an out of the box Springer over a Kimber for reliability as a whole - but a few Kimber models here and there have caught my attention over the years. But, they generally always end up being aluminum framed. They don't even ramp the 4" Kimbers either. Only the next smaller size.
