Looks like the Baer site was updated and no TRS models to be seen. They do have 3 new models not including the Cent. edition
Baer 1911 .38 Super Commanche

Baer 1911 Ultimate Tactical Carry 5" Model(supposedly TRS replacement)

This is the first I heard of the no more TRS models.

For some reason I don't like any of the rail models from the semi-custom shops. I don't care for the way the rails look. The only ones I think that look good are the Springfields.

I like the man's guns but you know, at those prices I'll stick to a Colt and have a top smith work it over. My current SuperTac is going to be improved by a top smith and for much less.

Not, that I wouldn't want a TRS, but prices on these guns are way out there. But, again, I WANT ANOTHER HIGH END GUN.

It's those prices though. It's not a dig against anyone who has or wants another premium gun. I own two, (1) Wilson 1996A2 (2) Les Baer SuperTac.

Safe shooting.

You'll spend damn near $1000 on a new Colt, then spend AT LEAST $2000-$4000 grand to have a "top smith" work it over. :dunno:

thecableguy

I have always thought the Baer was the most bang for your buck when it comes to semi-customs.
Colt= +/- $1000
Now lets say for the sake of argument you send it to say here
http://www.harrisoncustom.com/Package.aspx?pid=20
Thats another 1750 so now you are at almost 2800 with shipping both ways.
Baer TRS= +/-2000 add if you want 1 1/2 group option @300= 2000-2400 and you get a hell of a 1911. JMO.

Hokie1911
01-06-2011, 19:18
Yeah, but TRSs are a dime a dozen. A Harrison Custom is something special and to me, worth the extra $800.

Baer's guns are like Kimber's. He changes one minute feature on the roll mark or ads an ambi safety and it becomes a "new model". I see nothing new.

It means that someone wasn't making enough money.

The "word"is royalties were involved.Someone didn't think they were getting enough royalties, someone thought they were paying too much royalties.
In either case, the TRS will continue without the Billboard and probably make LB more money in the long run.

Just for the heck of it I e-mailed Les Baer and here is the response I got. Not exactly a definitive answer but I guess it doesn't surprise me.

We are still taking orders for the TR 5" model, but all the other TR models are discontinued.
The new Ultimate Carry model is the same as the TR without the TR logos and markings.

I'm not trying to get in a pissing match with you, and I'm sure Les is passionate about his pistols, but that grip safety is fit horrendously.

Would you be happy with that fit? I wouldn't be. There is clearly no hand finishing, just parts put together. I guess that's why Baers are only slightly more expensive than Brazilian Springfields.

Slow your roll there catdaddy. I was making a joke. Les is a crabby old dude and would go off regardless of what you thought. I do agree with you, that in that picture, from that angle, it doesn't look as good as the others. That being said, I doubt Baer would put a poorly made gun on their website and seriously doubt he would let a poorly fitted one get out of his shop. Now, if you do want to start a pissing match, and not just with me, try to compare ANY Les Baer gun with one of the cheaper SA guns, and you'll just end up embarassing yourself. When I said that I dared you to call LB and tell him that, if you've ever dealt with him, then you would understand why I ended that sentence with a .
