Well, my Form 4 for my YHM Mite is in the mail. Any bets on when I'll get it back?

I got a form 4 back in about 45 days Form 1 55 days and now I have

a Mite in also been about 5 weeks and waiting. I would say 60 days to

180 days. Summer is worst time IMO due to vac's.

My last two Form4's were with Santamaria and they were 38 and 48 days. The 48 day one just got in today. I get to take my Tirant9 home tomorrow!

Your wait will vary depending on your examiner. I wait 30days after I mail the check to call about the status. It will usually just had gone pending and you can ask your examiners name and figure a timeline. I call every 30days after to make sure its going smoothly. No need to wait 90 days to call just to find out it had an error and wasnt mailed back to correct. Now you just wasted 3 months. Or its been in your dealer mail pile for a month. It happens all the time.

Calling to check status will NOT slow down the examiners. When you call the NFA branch youll talk to one of three call takers, this is thier job. When they pickup, be poilte and tell them you want to check the status of your Form4/1, etc. Then tell them the serial number. They will ask your name and then tell you if and when its gone pending (assigned an examiner), then you can ask them who the examiner is. Repeat every 30days or untill your stamp comes back from the dealer.

More info:

Your examiner is selected based on the transfering dealers initials (Or yours is its a FORM1). Then once an examiner is selected for your form its put in a pile based on when your check was cashed using the roman calendar. Once the examiner actually gets your form in hand it only takes a matter of minutes to approve and mail out.

All of mine in the past 24 months have taken just about exactly 90 days, regardless of what the item was (can/sbr/etc).

Most of my Can 4's under 45 days. Had a 3 from M3 LTD a month back in 8 days with the suppressor to my door.

Seems your dealer is cursed with a SLOW examiner. This same problem forced me to switch dealers after i waited 190 days for one. With my new dealer ive never waited over 55 days.

In summary, from the information available, her approval times:
-Average days "Pending"; August 2010 to present: 72 days
-Median days "Pending"; August 2010 to present: 78 days

I took care to omit any entries with excessive days pending (normally caused by faulty submissions), as well as omitting one or two entries with very short processing times (somebody got hooked up!).

<------currently 78 days pending; 99 days since submission; 114 days since purchase

Just heard that my Title 2 dealer that I paid and been waiting for my Mite to
come back from ATFE is rumored to be closing up end of this month. I have
7 weeks in on my F4. I called and no reply yet. I will call again Wed. Hope
he keeps his lic and I can get my Mite from him. I had a terrible first F4.
I paid the dealer for a M1 Thompson-transferable- $600 waited almost
a year for all his BS . Saw the seller's info on his desk and called the seller.
Found out he bounched 2 checks. I had to call ATF and had it transfered
to Great Title 2 dealer in another city. Also found out my first guy did not
have enough money to pay for his new NFA lic. Back then only $200.
