I have a new model 35 GLOCK. Why is there a round hole in the front bottom and an oblong cut out area on the top front ?
Is it to allow a compensated barrel . And can an after market compensated barrel be added to the exsisting pistol without altering the slide.

There are a couple "holes" in the gun and I am confused as to which one you are referring to? The 1/2 circle in front of the magazine slot, at the bottom of the frame, is there to allow your index finger access to a "stuck magazine". The hole in the dust cover portion of the slide (under side) is to allow access to the front sight.
The oblong hole on the top of the slide is for weight reduction. The G35 never was issued with a ported barrel. Yes you can use an aftermarket ported barrel in your G35. See a couple choices here http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Search.aspx?TERM=lwd-3540p

sorry for the confusion

the holes I am referring to are both on the slide located at the front and located top and bottom.
small round hole is possibly to access front sight but the barrel would be in the way
the long1/2 inch wide by 2 inch long is also in the slide allowing you to see the top of the barrel

Answered above:

1 The hole in the dust cover portion of the slide (under side) is to allow access to the front sight. Remove the barrel from the slide and you will see this is the only way to get access to the front sight.

2 The oblong hole on the top of the slide is for weight reduction. The G35 never was issued with a ported barrel. Yes you can use an aftermarket ported barrel in your G35. See a couple choices here http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Search.aspx?TERM=lwd-3540p
