I know how everyone enjoys the gun porn, so here's a few pics of my latest acquisition. I'm really loving the form factor and weight of the commander/officer combo.

Very happy with just about everything except the tri-color finish. Anodized frame is one shade of black, Duty Treat slide is another, and small parts (GS, TS, and SS) are a third dull shade. Last picture shows the differences pretty well. Not a huge deal to me, but I just expected more from a $1500 gun. Other than the finish, I can't find anything else wrong. The barrel is fit tight and everything is very well put together.

Grips are VZ Officer Slim profile in Green/Black Linen.

Won't get a chance to get it to the range for a while as Duck season has our local range shut down.

I'd not worry too much about color, it looks like one sweet looking 1911a1 carry gun. Congrats.

Sweet! The only thing that stopped me from buying one of those instead of my Valor was the front strap treatment.

Once you understand that different metals finish different, it's no big deal. Aluminum won't finish the same as steel, and different grades of steel will look slightly different from each other. Paint is cheap but will be uniform, but that isn't paint and the finish you have isn't cheap. Enjoy it. They are fine guns.

I think it looks very good. The differences in color wouldn't bother me.
Once you shoot it I am quite sure that you will learn to love this gun and actually like the fact that it is "unique" looking from most 1911's.

Great pistol. The finish would piss me off as well, but generally something like a CCO is going to get carried and abused. The finish should look uniformly scuffed in a few months anyhow so no problem. If it was a target/trophy gun, I'd not accept the finish quality. People have been refinishing 1911's for years and they don't have to look like a parts gun if adequate time and prep are taken.

I'm pleased as punch with mine.

It really is a minor annoyance as everything else about this pistol is superb. I've got plenty of other guns in Melonite, Tenifer, Nitride, Park, and paint and I've never seen this much variation between parts. Just pointing it out as I know most of us 1911 folks tend to be on the picky side

Well, the more I looked at the slide, the more I started to think there was some kind of residue left on it from the Duty Treat process. I pulled out an old toothbrush and scrubbed it down with some CLP. Lots of brown, rusty looking residue came off the slide. Inside the cocking serrations was the worst, but it was evident pretty much all over. The paper towel I used to wipe it down looked like something that should have been floating at the bottom of a porta-potty. :toilet:

Once I was done, the difference was very evident. The slide is now a more even charcoal color and closer to the frame color. Small parts are still different, but it's much better now. I guess my slide just didn't get rinsed very well after treating.

nice grips. I'm supporting a set of VZ's 320.

Thanks. I'm slowly converting all of my guns to VZs. I think they're a great combination. Low profile with enough grip, but not so much that they snag clothing.

I like them too. Thinking of getting a set of VZ Frag grips for the CCO.

Sweet! The only thing that stopped me from buying one of those instead of my Valor was the front strap treatment.

That's what I thought until I tried one. front front strap and mainspring housing provide adequate gripping surface, while not at all being "grabby" under clothing. It's very comfortable.

Rub it down with a little CLP or oil. It will remove the rest and look good.
