I saw an interesting variant of the SW1911PD in the gun shop. It is a dark finish, with AMBI safety levers, the typical 3-hole trigger, and novak-style sights.
The frame says "Houlton ME" on the side. Both of my regular stainless SW1911 and the Gunsite 1911PD were Springfield MA guns.
Their catalogue only shows a Rail version. This one does NOT have a rail (which I like).
I thought it was a blued gun, but the catalogue says it is a stainless slide.
Has anyone ever seen a 1911PD with 5 inch barrel/slide with no rail? I was thinking of picking this one up for $650.
When did the 1911 guns move to production in the Maine facility?
Thanks for any feedback and suggestions.
