Well, let's just say that yesterday was one of the best days I have had in recent memory. This is all that happened:

- My first AR-15 that I ordered showed up at my local gunshop - Colt LE6940

- The ammo I ordered showed up on my doorstep (500 rounds .223 and 200 rounds 5.56). I've got some Hornaday TAP on the way too

- The sight and mount that I ordered from LaRue showed up on my doorstep - Trijicon ACOG TA31H

- The new ammo can and 2 H&K AR-15 30 round mags that I ordered ALSO showed up

- I got a 12% raise at my job! (not bad for just 1 year out of school :wavey:)

Wouldn't this still be considered coming a little late? There is still like 353 days until Christmas. :)

Nice haul. You are now ready to defend against Zombie attack.

Haha, yes and no. This was Christmas-Come-Early for me since this will be my big "toy" purchase for 2011.

Absolutely. Now I just a TON more ammo.

Thanks a lot. I read a ton of reviews and did a lot of research about everything. That approach always seems to treat me well.

Good Times man! I had X-Mas early too! Haha isn't it grand? Is this just your plinker or HD or like an all around kind of thing?

Yes, grand indeed!

It's just my rifle for everything. It is my first and only AR...not sure when I will be getting another one.

I just built mine from the ground up and I, like you, want one and only one AR! That Colt is beautiful! Now go throw her in the dirt and make her do dirty things to targets!

Yea, I am a noobie when it comes to AR's, so, I didn't really want to attempt to build one. Plus, the LE6940 had pretty much everything I wanted in an AR.

My next AR, who knows when that will be, will definitely be chambered in 7.62. I know H&K is coming out with one. So, maybe I'll buy that when it comes out. Who knows.

It's so cold here in Cincinnati! I might wait until it warms up a bit to go out and shoot her. We'll see. There are some indoor ranges around here where you can shoot rifles.

Sweeeet! Where did you order the colt from and if you don't mind my asking, how much was it? How about the ACOG?
Congrats on the raise!

You need a light and a sling. I recommend the Surefire G2X in a VTAC mount, and a padded VCAS, but that's just me

Nice rifle!

Nice rifle!

It came with a sling from Colt, buuuut, I am not sure how good it is. I haven't taken the time to unravel it. In terms of a light...yes, I might eventually get a Surefire. I already have a Surefire Defender LED that I arry on my person (which is sweet, btw). So, yes, I love their products and would definitely get one for the AR.

Are slings on AR's pretty common? If so, does anybody have a recommendation for a good one?

The sling it came with probably isn't great. My recommendation: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1297947

Congrats on the raise and on your purchase.I'd put the factory carry strap on that Colt and take it shooting. You have plenty of time to buy other items for it as you feel the need.tom.

Yes, in most areas. Also fairly useless.

Heavy, expensive, and not nearly as reliable/durable as good USGI or Pmags.

Mot to mention the semi ratard mystique that goes along w/ them. If it was used w/ a IAR that would be.

Sweet setup. Now grab as many pmags as you can afford. For a decent 2-point sling check out Blue Force Gear VCAS or Victory.

Thanks again guys. I am very excited about it. I field stripped, cleaned, and lubed it this weekend. It was pretty simple and straightforward, even for a newcomer.

I will definitely look into getting a new sling for it, seeing as how the one Colt provided me isn't all that great (although I am surprised they even included one).

Are you asking for help w/ your English? Its fairly easy to figure out I typed a M instead of a N and IAR stands for Infantry Automatic Rifle.

That ACOG looks like it was made for the 6940.. I'll pick one up for my 6940 eventually, but its painful to think about how expensive they are.

Excellent choices you made. The only problem is that ARs are like tattoos. Nobody ends up with just one.

I have to agree with you there. It looks amazing on it and it just feels "right". I picked up the ACOG from LaRue Tactical in Texas and paid I believe $1,172 for it, which was cheaper than Optics Planet even with the LaRue mount (which I think is around $100 or so). In other words, it was a no brainer to buy it from LaRue. PLUS, they sent me a copy of the U.S. Constitution, a LaRue hat, a LaRue bottle opener, and some LaRue steak seasoning! Ha.

Thanks! I hear what you're saying. I am already contemplating what my next black rifle purchase is going to be and that H&K 7.62 (model MR762A1) is looking pretty damn tempting...unless Colt comes out with a 7.62 civilian model AR.
