I'm in the process of building a T/C Pro Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. This is going to be an all purpose rifle. I'll be using it for wood chucks, deer, etc.

When I started hunting all we ever had was a scope with crosshairs. Nothing fancy, so I've never used anything else. I am now interested in getting a purpose built long range hunting scope. I doubt I will be shooting over 500 yards. Long range work will primarily be varmint hunting.

Can you tell me where I can start as far as learning about using these newer breeds of hunting scopes? I see some of them come with turrets, which are calibrated to a particular rifle caliber and some scopes offer a ballistic reticle like the Zeiss Rapid Z.

I'm at a loss as to where I should start. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Try going to SOCNET and look under snipers and long rang shooting also there is a load of info from long range shooters who use the latest in scopes

I decided to go with a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x40 CDS. Looks like a real winner and the cost is quite reasonable.
