The date was 1/9/11 on the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the 1911. I bought three at a gunshow that day. One is a stainless Springfield that I will probably sell. The other two are a lnib Series 1 Kimber Custom, and a lnib Colt WW1 repro that I want to have a full custom build done on. Total cost to me for the three was $1200, so I think I did okay. :tongueout:

Anybody else celebrate the "holiday"?

Sadly no I did not buy anything even remotely close to a 1911.

So you're saying you bought those three 1911s for $1200?

Congrats on 3 super deals. I probably would've bought them too. Post some pics or everyone is gonna think they are rusted up.

Yes. The Kimber was thrown in for free with the purchase of a few other guns, and the WWI repro Colt and the stainless Springfield cost a total of $1200. Not a bad show.

No joke. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Seems like I'm always reading about somebody else having luck like that. I guess it was my turn.

There was a guy with three lnib Les Baer 1911's walking around also, but he wanted way too much for them, and wouldn't budge. He eventually gave up and walked out of the show with them. Too bad. I'd have loved to get his 9mm Premier II.

It was more like "buy 4 get one free" for the Kimber, but it was still a good deal.

Yeah, I know everybody always wants to see pics. I don't have a good digital camera or the knowledge to use one. Heck, I had to have Bac help me post pictures of the Yost I got last year. Sorry to be a tease, but... :whistling:

You're exactly right. The unemployment rate in that city is over 12% and is still going up. I hate to take advantage of the situation, but people are selling everything they don't need right now, so there are some great deals to be had for a guy with a pocket full of cash.

You're right. I just thought the great deal and the coincidence that the date was 1-9-11 was justification enough.
