A buddy of mine will loan me the tools(or I'd buy them) to build a barreled receiver. I was wondering where are good sources of barrels. What I'd like is a 16 inch carbine or mid length with a 1-7 twist and chrome lining but I don't want it threaded. Any suggestions?

You could try Adco. They do custom work like you are looking for.

Is NJ no thread?

Try White Oak Armament.

NJ is unthreaded or perm attach. The problem is the AG has been going after some muzzle brakes saying they look identical to flash suppressors(which are verbotten). So to be safe I would rather a plain muzzle.

Battle Comp perma-pinned @ ADCO. Definitely a "break" that does not increase noise that much and does about as good a job on flash suppression as an A2. The big plus is the awesome recoil control.

PWS has solutions for no flash hider states.

What do looks have to do it? Thats crazy. Your AG needs more important things to do.

In our laws there is a a thing called "Similarly Identical" meaning that if it "looks" like a banned weapon it is. A gun shop had to recall some AK style rifles because of it. Then again a lawyer got a guy off who had a MAK 90 because it didn't look like an AK. Confusing enough yet?

Brownells had Daniel Defense barrels carbine length 1/7 chrome lined out of 4150 steel for $169. DD is a good company so I think you'd be gtg!
