View Full Version : Kimber pro carry cleaning
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKAJVd3y-xA
I have a pro carry II. I watched this video and was wondering if my pro carry will tear down the same as it. I have shot 150 rounds so far and have not field cleaned it..

Yup, should be exactly the same.
don't clean it until 500 rounds or until you get a failure ;)
Thanks Quack for the advice...would still like to tear it down just to get myself familar with the gun...so I'll tear it down and put it back together...wait a couple hundred more rounds to clean it up...

Why, I can see the failure part but why the 500 rounds?
because that's the magical round count that Kimber and others recommend :animlol:
from the manual, though they recommend every 100-150 rounds for cleaning.
BREAK-IN PERIOD
Before firing the pistol for the first time, Field Strip
and clean the firearm following proper procedures
(see DISASSEMBLY, CLEANING and
LUBRICATION and ASSEMBLY Instructions in this
Manual). Kimbers firearms are quality custom
pieces. Our firearms are hand fitted to tight 27
tolerances. For proper Break-in of the firearm
shoot 400-500 rounds of Quality Factory Ball
(230g. FMJ). Ammunition, cleaning and lubricating
the gun every 100-150 rounds
Wilson recommends not cleaning after 500 rounds, just oil.
the oil and powder residue will form a slurry to burnish the frame/slide rails to give it a smooth fit.
I believe Baer also recommends the same thing.

Baer also recommends the same thing according to my manual.
