I had a compact RIA 1911 loved it, but I hated the looks of it the whole Half a slide worth of Advertisement on the side. It may seem ridiculous, but everytime I looked at that thing I hated so I sold it and bought a glock 19:faint:. It isn't a bad gun and never gave me a problem, but I just couldn't get used to it. So I sold it, and today got my Springfield GI, and it will be a project gun. I love that it is a 1911 manufacturer that uses the whole slide to slap their name on the gun. It is slightly used I got a deal on it 400+28 tax. Now I just got to get a holster and mag carrier.
List of near future modifications, in the order I plan on doing it:
STI Long Carbon Fiber Trigger. (My fingers are too long for the stock trigger)
Commander Hammer and S&A Beaver-Tail.
Checkered Flat Mainspring Housing.
Maybe upgrade the sights, but I've always thought the GI's were accurate. I'll have to borrow my buddies Kimber with Novaks to see if they are worth it.

Also I got a question, I don't have any of my power tools(dremel) in my College apartment, but If i wanted to buff all the park' off the Barrel that shows through the ejection port what should I use? It is slightly worn and I'd rather it all be shining instead of parts

Thanks guys. I think it was a good deal, got this and 20.00 for my glock 19. I think the only reason I would get a glock in the future would be for a truck gun, MAYBE.

The sides of my 1911's say colt. Ed brown. Springfield. Norinco. But I don't really look at the sides mu h. I guess it matters to some people more than others. Glocks are the most ugly thing in my safe. I guess I look at guns like friends. Do I trust them? Do they seem reliable when I need them? Am I better off with or without them? Looks are not near the top of my list. Attractive is nice. A plus.
