Need computer help - internet hi-jacker :(

Hi all,
I'll first mention that I am a huge tech noob so bare with me. My home pc has an up to date norton security with firewall, phishing, virus, etc protection. Normally I never have an issue but I come today and there are all of these fake virus warnings from antivirus (not norton) saying do I want to run the antivirus software. In the mean time I keep getting windows errors saying a lot of different .exe files can't run. Internet explorer windows all only go to the programmci .com website.

I googled it from my phone (which I'm posting on now) and saw the below email on how to get rid of it. Problems are that 1) I obviously can't get to that site on my infected PC and 2) I'm not tech savy enough to deal with the manual instructions given (and it says it could do damage still to my machine).

So any suggestions? Call a tech to fix it? This sucks.

I should add that I ran a full scan from norton and nothing came up. :(

You have a blank CD-R or a blank DVD? Download and make the Avira Antivir Rescue CD and boot the computer with the CD in the CD drive. Make sure tou computer BIOS is set to boot from CD before the hard drive.

If you run the CD scan the same day as you download it, don't bother with trying to find updates but that might help later. Make sure to run the full scan.

You could also try to boot into safe mode and then run a scan to see if it picks anything up.
