When I goto my class3/SOT to start the paperwork on my Osprey45 Ill weigh it. He shares a storefront with a ebay pack/ship so i can use their postal scale. Good idea.

Very nice man. I just decided to look for a preban lower(Im in CT) so I can build something similar myself.

You wont regret it. I can't see owning anything with a 16" barrel again unless it has a Long range role. As far as a CQB setup goes, this is where its at. I found it strange how the gun will almost perfectly balance without the can attached. Very compact setup.

Just curious why you went with SA80 mags?

Whenever I think about buying HK I always remember...

"HK: Because you suck and we hate you..." :tongueout:

Very nice build though, I couldn't thing of anything that I would do different. I might consider a Geissele SSA Trigger if you felt like spending another $180.

I just wanted to try the steel mag...I have a truckload of usg1 and pmags. And ill most likely upgrade the trigger if this one doesn't break in well.

Very nice set up. It definitely spoils you when doing CQB work with a short barrel. Hard to go back indeed.

Very nice. Though I think for the "right" look, you might need a stubby VFG, otherwise, sexy little blaster.

I hear ya, but the mk18 mod0 uses a knights armament grip. I'll probably end up changing it down the road after the nostalgia wears off.

Its all operators taste once they leave Crane NSW.

Optics, lights, VFG's and mags are usually up to the operator, save maybe in the USCG's use.

New Mk18's get the DD MK II RIS. not the KAC RIS

I thought the mod1's got the DD rail and the mod0 got the KAC m4 ras. O well, I like the setup, it's light. I'll end up with a different grip down the road.

I know that picture well, it helped me finally spend money on a sbr instead of suppressors. You stayed more true to the clone. I don't care for the aimpoints and shoot better with the eotechs. Nice rig.

Thanks. I am glad I could help.

VERY nice setup. I went a little different with my 10.5" SBR. It started as a Mk. 18 clone, then I ditched the A-frame and KAC handguards for a lo-pro block and VTAC tube. I love the VERY light weight on the completed rig, and I much prefer the folding HK-style front over the fixed a-frame. The empty side rail now mounts a Surefire M600C
Scout light.

Lose the VFG, replace the Aimpoint with a T-1 or XPS, and the ACS with a CTR, and you have my planned SBR.

Sounds like you've got a decent setup planned. Before the 600 was added, I was coming in around 5 pounds LOADED when using a 30rd P-Mag. I had to use a bathroom scale, so it wasnt an exact measurement, though. The VTAC tube is REALLY light, and its really easy to move the rail segments. Just back off the two tension screws at the barrel nut by about a turn and a half, rotate the tube slightly, and slide the whole thing right off. Once the tube is off, adding, removing, or moving the rails is REALLY easy.

The VTAC tube is about the only FF handguard I'll use now. Fantastic fit, feel, price, looks, and weight.

When I did my SBR, I purposefully wanted something with only as much rail as I absolutely needed. I just ordered an offset Scout mount from LaRue, so as soon as that arrives, I will only need the top and bottom rails. I like the feel of the slick-side tube, and the reduced weight. If I actually build an SPR upper (again), I will probably do a VTAC on it, as well. I get the feeling I will go .308 before I do another SPR build, though.

That looks like the JP VTAC guard, not the Troy, right?

This is the SPR upper I'm lusting after currently. I have the lower all ready, complete with UBR stock, BCM tube and H buffer, Geissele SSA-E trigger, BAD lever, enhanced trigger guard, and MOE grip. Also have a BCM BCG, Gunfighter CH, Vortex FH, and a set of Troy BUIS ready for it. Just need the upper, a decent scope, and a LaRue mount (the expensive stuff!).

Yeah, a 308 build will be my next. I would mind trying out a SCAR-H for something different.

The brake is insanely loud. But only to onlookers and not the shooter. Ill be using the can on it 90% of the time. And I only have 10 stamps, the machine gun and UMP werent mine. Good times!

Now.....need to buy a machine gun....

The Surefire brake on my Mk. 18 upper is damned loud, too. The concussion off of it is pretty impressive, too. A can is definitely next on the menu for that sucker.
