thats because you are rich

It's a strange dynamic in America because every area is different. New York City people may get paid more but own no real estate, folks in Lubbock, Texas, can buy a nice little ranch for 1/4 what I paid for my modest single family residence but make less salary, while I make a decent salary and own a house in the suburbs.

Overall, I think I'm pretty okay where I am. I make enough to have all the toys I want and do the things I want to do. Aside from the stupid gun laws and the welfare state, I have no complaints.

Thanks Hack. Prayer and sometimes a good glass of scotch is what it takes to make the day a little better. On a much brighter note, my tax return is going to be HUGE this year, although the wife already has it spent three times over.

Good that things are a little better for you. I am going to try to do taxes next week.

I got go for another day of annual refresher training. I don't care for this week. They could cover themselves just as easily with having everything presented on the computer, and leave us on our shifts to do it, and have a relief for the training. It could all be done in two days. Even one day off is not enough. I've been on six days a week for a while, too, before this. In order to get everything done you've been forced to neglect all week in one day is just like being at work. Especially for us single guys with no one at the house to help out. Clean house, laundry, groceries, after hours bank deposit, get drunk, visit family, take out girlfriend is just too much to accomplish in one day and get any rest in.

Need some happy thoughts guys.

It looks like the #1 department I want to work for is going to remain on a hiring freeze for the foreseeable future. I'm getting ready to start the process with another agency. Its not going to be typical patrol, but protection and security, with some patrol. (within the scope of their mission) Its still a sworn, uniformed LE position though. Not exactly what I want, but I've heard nothing but good about the department and "think" (hope) I have a good chance of getting hired.

Good luck, man!

We do half of our common-core (all employees, not just security staff) in-service on the computer, then one shift in actual training. Then 16 hours of in-service for security staff, then 8 hours of firearms (4 hours of reading the book at home and 4 hours on the range for annual requal).

I am, but north of. Kansas City, Kansas is just south of the Lansing border which borders Leavenworth on the north side. Kansas City in its entirety on both sides of the border is very spread out, and takes up empty space in some areas of the border and on its outer areas, then there are all the smaller townships along with the two Kansas Cities.

Sorry, there just doesn't seem to be much right in Emporia.

Now, on the Missouri side I know of one that I go to occasionally, and with the weather warming up I am going to try to get my injured right side back into action again. The one I go to is $3.00 per hour two per booth. They accommodate handguns, and rifles, long range and short range out to 25 yards. It is called Parma Woods, and is owned by the Missouri Department of Conservation. You may also want to check with Nikkeret, (spelling), as he is not too far from Emporia.

Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!

The past 5 years, something has gone wrong on my V-day. This year was no exception. I got pulled over for FYR (which I realized I cut the guy off the second I did it). The officer was nice enough to give a warning, so it could have been worse. I definitely would have deserved a citation.

Weather is great today. 40 degrees and sunny. Cleaned my car out, prepping for an interview, a physical test, and 2 written tests in the next week, all for 4 different depts....

When is the next gift giving holiday?

Resurrection Sunday, (Easter), Passover, oh Saint David's Day if she is Welsh, Saint Patrick's Day regardless of what she is, since so many US folk have adopted that one, lol.

Well, when is the next flub up day?:whistling:

Kidding really, although I have been there too.

I like Hugo. Their stuff fits very well. Although I still find Versace to be the best when it comes to the fall of the fabric when it drapes over you.

D&G is good for more edgy, fitted gear when you are out prowling the clubs. I love their eyewear. Hate to say it, the only American brand that fits me is Abercrombie. I'm just an eurofit kinda guy.

OfficerChris
02-15-2011, 08:53
No bad thing, because I have never seen a typical american look or outfit, that looked nearly as good as the stuff you mentioned.

Usually I am more a sporty guy, especially during winter I love to wear all kind of snowboard brands (but not xxl gangster outfit). Over the years I found out that I do look good in all the leather shoes, dress shirts, .. and started to like it so much, that it doesnt hurt me that much, to buy those expensive clothes. It just looks very very nice.

Love the new jacket. Somehow Hugo Boss is always my first choice. I walk in, tell them what I want, try it on - looks nice and fits. Probably because of my german ancestors.. lol

Well, Molina, it is raining right now. It's supposed to rain for a few days. Ugh. This sucks. I had a big weekend planned... well... not really... just sleeping.

Oh, OC, I still prefer the Italians for couture. Sorry, they just know aesthetics and design. Germans are great for engineering and functionality, but Italians know beauty.

It's the difference between the Ferrari/Lamborghini and the Porsche. Porsches may have more technical developments and go faster (911 Turbo/GT2/GT3), but nothing takes your breath away like a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Heck, even though I love how BMW looks, nothing BMW makes is close to what a Maserati looks like. Even the semi-exotic BMW's like the M cars are just regular bimmers with M bodykits and bigger wheels. The new M1, while great looking, just lacks that certain Italian panache that their supercars have. Hard to describe.

That's a 944, a front engined 4 cylinder Volkswagen imitation! That's not a real Porsche! A real Porsche is rear engined with a flat 6.

Wannabes here wear Versace and D&G too but not the good stuff like business suits or more expensive pieces of clothing. They get sunglasses or some other smaller items that are cheaper and can be used more.

My favorite suit is still my Versace, even though the Hugo is okay, but the drape of the Italian wool is just better on me.

Yes, burgers and gun stores are pretty much about it...

French fries, James Dean, the sky's the limit here, they say!

I would think if you came here to my state, you would be disappointed at what guns we are limited to in CA. NV has full auto guns which are a lot more fun.

I can take you to all the burger joints which are rated pretty high:

In-N-Out (gotta have it)
Apple Pan
Fatburgers (double kingburger with egg n fixins)
The Counter
McDonald's (just to see if you're paying attention)
Johnny Rocket's (Tillamook cheese)
Ed Debevic's (the rockabilly place in Pulp Fiction)

Since I would live at an officers house and might be able to visit his station (he is at Swat), I really hope I can fire some nice guns there

Definitely looking forward to meet you if possible. Last two weeks of May like I said. Will get myself a rental car over there. Hope they arent too expensive, because I would want a cool one like a Charger

Burger all the way. At the moment I live nearly vegetarian, but I will compensate that during april when a friend from Germany visits me and then during the two weeks in the USA.

Might also consider visiting McD just to see if the burger taste different over there.

I have never heared of the other ones before I think.

One problem I have is, how to contact people over there. Dont know if my friend has a computer at home, have to ask him, but I cant use my cell phone over there, its too expensive. So I thought about buying a cheap one there if its possible. Here we have this contract free phones, guess something like this is available at your place too. Your friend's an operator?:faint:

Rental cars aren't too bad if you arrange for it way way way ahead of time and you can get Chargers, but don't expect the full boat SRT10 like the one Keanu Reeves drove in Street Kings. You'll probably get the cheapie 6 cylinder RT version.

I suggest you google In-N-Out at the minimum to get familiar with their offerings. That place is a legend on the West Coast with lines going out for blocks during rush hour. There are some places that literally shut down their neighboring businesses because the line of cars going through the drive-thru blocks access to the other businesses.

However, what makes a good burger meal is the fry that comes with it. It is very important to not get the generic big square cut no taste fry because that ruins a good burger. In-N-Out has very thin fresh fries. You watch them put the whole potato in the cutter and make fries fresh in front of your face. It shows in the taste.

Hate to admit it but I love Jack In The Box and Burger King fries. They put extra cornstarch in it or something and it gives it a different texture and flavor. McDonald's fries are okay but you have to eat it hot.

You'll definitely dig the other joints because they all have different offerings when it comes to what is their version of the burger. The Counter is the one that is a trip. You get this long sheet that looks like a scan tron and you go through each section, picking out options like you are building a car... so for bread, you can get the regular bun, english muffin, pumpernickel, rye, etc. and then you go down to patties like turkey, vegetarian, etc. and toppings and sauce. I think someone counted like at least 2,000 combinations or something.

Oh! One more place... I tried it once and was hooked on the fries... is Five Brother's Burgers. It's new out here on the west coast but it's a staple in the midwest, I hear. Their fries are phenomenal. Big soggy flavorful fries and the burgers are good too. They only serve their burgers well-done which sounds bad since I like mine medium rare or medium at best, but their burgers stay juicy even if it is well-done. Oh well... they have a huge line as well when I went last time.

As for cell phones, you can go to any 7-11 convenience store and buy a disposable cell phone that comes prepackaged with minutes. I think it's like $50 or so and when you're done with the minutes, you can recharge it with more money via cards you buy or you just throw the whole thing away. That's what all the drug dealers use so we can't track their cell phones since they just chuck it when they're done.

You can get Mustang Convertibles all day long at any rental place. That is the most common rental convertible next to the Chrysler Sebring convertible which is of the ghey.

Not sure about the cell phones. I'll ask the 7-11 guy tomorrow at work. He sells a lot of them... thanks to the hood that I work in.

If you need to get around, the car rental places also rent GPS with their cars and I think some of them might even include it in the package. I always get car rental coupons in magazines or whatever... let me dig around and see if I can find some and send them to you so you can save some money.

Just don't mess yourself up. Now if your fasting for health reasons there are good ways to deal with that. You have to lessen your food intake a little at a time up to your fast because if you don't then what happened to you is the result.

I used to be hypoglycemic for quite some time until about close to eight years ago, I think. Then it changed on me. I found out about my diabetes by developing two sores that would not close up on my lower legs, one on each leg just a little above my feet, and by going down in a upper level cell house unit. They had to take me down the stairs in a stokes basket. It is been an interesting journey with it ever since.

I see. Just carry a snack bar with you then. I always tell people whom I work with that it doesn't hurt to test their own sugar every great once in a while, just to see how they are doing. There is rather inexpensive equipment that is available to do it with. I have found over at Walmart the ReliOn brand of meters for about ten bucks, and a fifty pack of strips are only about twenty bucks. They also carry A1c testing equipment, so you don't even have to go to the doctor for it, to find out for yourself a three month average. Since you keep in good shape and try to stay that way you probably won't have much problem with it unless you are probably genetically predisposed to it.

Good old fashioned capitalism at work for ya. There's enough demand from the criminals that the manufacturers are popping up to meet the need. Just stop by any 7-11 on your visit and pick one up with the prepaid card. Yep, last summer some bonehead put a John Deere STX 38 out on the street as garbage. My wife's Grandpa Don and I drive by and threw it in the back of his truck. About six hours later, a butt load of of time in a parts tank, and a new muffler later I had myself a new lawn tractor - cost me $100 in parts.

But it wasn't well maintained. I definitely fu-barred the engine in October while scooping up leaves, so I'm looking for a new/used one.

Trans is solid though - damn thing pulled a wheelie and nearly threw me off the back. And that's with the so-so low-on-torque 15 year old motor.

Midwestern states have plenty of lawn to mow outside of the cities. Even in the cities if you live in a house there will be lawn to mow. I had a place on two lots, and let my neighbour do it most of the time, since he liked to play around on his riding mower.
