View Full Version : SW Governor 410 gauge,45acp,45LC snubbie
oops I mean Governor, Anyone see the news re the SW Governor 410 ga snubbie pistol?
Im not certain why, but I am getting strangely attracted to the concept, anyone see anything on pricing for this?
It sounds appealing until you see the ballistics of .410 from a snubby barrel, then you realize you'd be just as well off with a 'boring' conventional revolver in .38sp/357mag or .45acp.
I haven't seen the price, but I tried the .410 revolver thing back when the Judge first came out, it's fun and all, but too big a gun to carry and useless for anything but snakes unless you load with conventional defense ammo that can be had in more lighter, accurate and smaller revolvers.
I'm looking forward to seeing them in stores.
You are right, did some more research, 410 not great. But is is way cool. any way Ive cooled down on the idea. Back to looking for a good used model 60 j frame here locally
:wavey:I have had 4 different Taurus "Judges". My shooting buddy and I have shot almost every type of 410 out.
I finally decided to keep the 2 1/2 cylinder, with the new 410 handgun ammo.
The best ammo I have found is:
2 1/2 in. Rem STS Nitro # 8 shoot. At 10 to 12 yards this shoots a very uniform pattern of about 30 to 40 inches. Velosity is 1300fps. The first 2 cylinder has these loaded.
The Federal 000 Buck ( 4 pellets ) is loaded in the next two cylinders. at the same distance the pattern is about the size of your hand.
Last loaded is a good 45 colt hollow point.
I keep this loaded in my pickup all the time.
I really like this pistol but will buy the First S&W Governor I find. I have the S&W 625 JM that a super smooth action plus I have about 100 full moon clips.
I can't wait.
They couldn't have come up with a better name.
