It started life as a 2006 "mil-spec" model. It's a one owner, he had Bob do the work.
I do plan on having the rear sight changed. I an undecided about the mag well
and the grips.

are those Novak GI sights?

Wow that looks great, nice pistol!
What sights you thinking of, something that classy deserves a plain black rear and gold bead front.

Nice!
I would go with 10-8 rear solid sight. This is the GI style, so it will keep within the GI theme...

Looks good. IMO the grips would look better on there without the magwell.

Who makes that sight? I have never seen that shape sight WITH 2 dots (AND white around the tritium instead of silver rings).
That is a super sweet gun!
VZ makes a magwell cut grip. That's a great looking no BS build.
Looks great.
Those sights look like Wilson Nite Eyes to me, may be wrong though.

Yep sight has to go and I dig the well and HC

I dig the grips on there. Have Larry make you up a new set. He can cut them flush with no bevel and no MSH pin cut for the magwell. Would look a lot better.

Looks great. Very clean.
I like it, but am also undecided on the rear sight. It is a very nice blaster, nonetheless. Congrats!

The rear sight is a Meprolight.....not sure of the model.
I like that 10-8 National Match style rear sight #01-140
Or something of that nature,......and a gold dot front.
Since I plan on keeping with the retro theme, I Will most likely remove the mag well.
Bob beveled the frame's mag well, previous owner installed the magwell afterwards.
Grips will eventually change as well. I'm thinking cocobolo from Esmeralda.
I like the classic look of the gun, but i am in agreeance with the rest about the rear sight. it needs to go
...previous owner installed the magwell afterwards.
glad to hear it, since it's not blended at all.

Very nice upgrades, so how does it shoot?

Looks great to me. I'd leave it as it is! Enjoy it!
Man, that's awesome!:wow:
Personally, if you're not going to blend the magwell, I would remove it. I really like magwells, but only if they're blended. Also, I would look at the Ted Yost plain rear sight. It has a very good sight picture and looks terrific on "old School" type guns.

Damn looks great.

Very classy looking blaster you have there! I'd throw some 10-8's on the back if it were me, but I don't think any rear sight is going to make it any less sexy.

Beautiful pistol!
I agree about the rear sight, I'd ditch it in favor of either a Harrison Retro or a 10-8 National Match.

Looks like the Miller is getting a face lift.
I sent it to a shop to get the sear looked at & rear sight replaced.
Decided to get the following done as well:
The mag well is coming off
Getting a S&A flat main spring housing, 20 LPI
Slide is getting a Novak cut for a "ledge" style 10-8 rear sight
All pins are being replaced
Slide stop pin will be flushed
Slide stop pin hole is getting chamfered
S&A .250" radius beaver tail is being fitted
Cylinder & Slide commander hammer
Cylinder & Slide ignition set
Frame & slide polish
Bead blast on frame & slide
Looks like the "retro" idea got left out in the cold, should be VERY cool!
Pics next week,.........hopefully.
Very nice.
Regarding the changes you mentioned I would lose the magwell (took my off of my CBQ because I just do not care for the feel it adds to the gun in my hand) but leaves the rest as is. :wavey:
Either way a very nice 1911 :)

The Smith & Alexander was a drop in part by the previous owner.
I can not understand why he installed it, he paid Bob to bevel the frame's
mag well, then installed the add-on. :dunno:

That's a great list, this gun will probably spoil you off all others. When you get it back notice the different "ping" the C&S hammer makes when dry fired, it's distinctive.

Went ahead and decided to get a Kart barrel fitted while it's in the shop.

I like the straight grip serrations as opposed to the slanted diaginal ones on my Springfield.
