I have been reloading for rifles for a couple years now and have decided to start reloading for 9mm for the first time. I am using 115 grain Hornady XTP with 7.9 grains of Blue Dot powder and want to see if anyone can recommend OAL for this mixture. I started with 10 rounds at 1.122 inches. My Speer 2nd edition guide does not list Blue Dot. My Lee guide does not show Blue Dot in XTPs but it does show Blue Dot for regular jacketed bullets. This reason I chose Blue Dot powder is because I have it sitting around and also because it is slower burning for my Glock 17L. Thank you very much for your help in advance. Being fairly new to the Glock world I feel I need a little advice from seasoned Glock owners.
Blue dot has worked well for me with 9mm.
I've also loaded a ton of XTPs with the listed Alliant data with no problems.

1.122 should work fine. I load them to 1.125.

I looked at the Alliant site but the bullets they use are Speer Gold Dot HP and I didn't know if those are interchangable with XTPs. 1.125 sounds good for me. Just didn't want to blow up my 17L, she is my baby. I know that the 9mm is a picky reload due to the capacity and length. Thank you for your help. :embarassed:

BLueDot is a decebt powder in th e9mm, but only for high end loads IMO. It will be a compressed load @ even midrange vel levels, there just isn't much case room to work with. To check your OAL, load a dummy round & drop it into your remvoed bbl. It should fall in & out easily. Your powder charge is fine, load up 10 & go try em.

Thank you Fred. Did the dummy round initially and it worked fine. I also like the fact that Blue Dot fills up the cartridge, it makes it easy to double check.

Your OAL should be determined by your barrel. I use 1.125 in my G17. But I could get them longer. I don't need to as I only shoot IDPA bunny farts with that gun.
