Is this one guy who hasn't made you a 1911 yet, or you got one of these too?

I've heard good things about him.

He doesn't own an officer size 1911, a 3" 1911, a railed 1911, or a non-.45 1911. Aside from that...he pretty much has it.

Here are some photos of my new Volkmann LWCC...Lightweight Combatant Carry. It has the alloy frame upgrade, his monogram bushing, a high cut front strap, his new Gripwell and a Novak wide notch rear sight with Novak gold bead front sight, thin carbon fiber grips from VZ and the complete gun is ION BOND finish (barrel, bushing, pins etc). He built it just like I ask and, the workmanship is top tier. Sorry for the poor picture quality.

That is real nice. If I had the money for a Volkman it would probably look just like that.

I consider them semi-customs, due to the options the model line, but that's my opinion.

Luke's prices had crept up a little high for me....hopefully they come back to Earth a bit. No doubt his stuff is excellent, but I can't see going much over that $2,500ish sweetspot with SACS, Brown, Wilson, Guncrafter, and Nighthawk in that ballpark.

If his prices got down into that range, (which may be a long shot) he'd be getting a lot of orders.

No way.

I put Guncrafter, Springfield, and Baer, all above Volkmann. They're good 1911s for sure, but these other semi-customs are better and also less expensive. The latest Volkmann prices were a rip, so hopefully, he gets them in line.

I have declined comment until now. I have a Volkmann Combat Custom I bought from George a couple of years ago. It is very nice, I would say comparable to in between a WC CQB and WC CQB Elite. I ordered a Volkmann Signature Jan 2010 from George. It was one of the last 12 guns Luke had in the pipeline when the "breakup" occurred. I waited until mid Jan and called Luke personally since George really couldn't give me any more information.

Based on my very cordial conversation with Luke, I decided to cancel my Signature and I ordered a Ed Brown Centennial instead. Just too many unknowns to continue to wait on it for what was looking like 16-18 months.

While I've been impressed with the Volkmann I have, I was disappointed in the finish (his black "GenIII" type finish) on mine after a 800 round Front Sight class. The finish on the front of the slide is virtually worn to the bare metal. I thought it would be more durable than that. My WC Armor-tuff guns have certainly fared better, as has my SRP with Bear Coat.

I'll have to see how Mark handles a "warranty" request on a gun he built at the old company. I'll wait until he gets up and running and settled and then give him a call.

As for pricing, certainly, his pricing puts him above even a WC CQB Elite, and I don't think it's justified. I saved $600 by canceling my Signature and going with the Ed Brown.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this post.

The Rockote finish is nothing to write home about and the guns are about $500 overpriced, in my opinion.
