Have not really found a Centennial that I can not live without yet. I know it is a hard thing to pull off to please everyone. Too little and it is just a 1911 and too much and it is gaudy. :dunno:

Has any one seen any nice wooden 1911 grips with centennial message on them? I could just buy a nice 1911 then and slap the grips on it and be done. :wavey:

Ive found the Ed Brown w/o the engraving to be very nice and the Wilson imo is probably the classiest. It is a tasteful mixture between modern styling, but still has a retro feel to it. There explanation of the design of the gun is: They think if JMB had modern machine technology, this would be the gun he made! For awhile I did not care for the hi power cuts, but i have learned to like them but initially wished WC would have left them off. The more i thought about it though, im pretty sure JMB would be doing this to more guns if he were still alive. It is documented fact that he believed the HP to be an even superior design to the 1911 and felt like it was his best creation he ever made.

Yet again...you Okie boys will settle for anything no matter how lame.

Now if Taurus would adds some more gold accents and really shine up that chrome finish as well as making those mother of pearl grips more shinny then they might sell a few in Texas :tongueout:

I bet Sarge could give you some "100 years" grips using this and a thick coat of poly.

Those are two of the nicer ones IMO as well. They just don't "grab" me like I had hoped a 100 yr 1911 might :(

I am a picky SOB I guess :)

Not sure what I want but I will know when I see it

I really like the Ed Brown Centennial Executive Elite (the one without all the engraving) also. Though it is too pretty to ever shoot and I can't afford three grand for a pretty object. I'm still trying to figure out where to spend three grand to get me a nice shooting 1911, so hard to choose!

I would (and will be getting) a centenniel Colt 1911 1 of 750, but if you don't want engraving or any of that and your not a Colt hater, every 1911 they make this year is supposed to have "100 years of service" on them and the price should be the same as usual production.

The brown will run you 2100-2200 for executive elite cent which is a decent price for what your getting if you like it . Mine is going to be shot a lot it's not going to be worth anymore than any other exec elite other than to me ,I am going to take it out and enjoy it like all my other 1911's when I want to carry full-size it will be the one ,if it turns out to be reliible have not received it yet
Remember the are not just for looking at ,wear them and shoot them
Good luck with your search

For those of you who say you aren't into special edition 1911's, may I suggest the Conway Twitty Memorial 1911?

http://www.americaremembers.com/products/CTWITTP/Conway%20Twitty%20Full%20Left_small.jpg

If my sources are correct (and I'm sure they are,) this is the machine that our fighting boys in Force Recon use. In times of national distress, they install a special slide where Conway's head flies upsidedown.

Had to find one that had "Bun" in the title didn't you :tongueout:

I might have to go with the Colt "100 years of service" option. Simple and elegant.

If I had to;

Look right and see that 1911
Look left and see Rosie O'Donnel nude
Look straight ahead and burst into flames.

Bring the marshmallows boys......
