I'm a newer 1911 owner and I'm curious to know where all of you recommend shopping for 1911 grips. Help! Please list websites you would recommend. Thanks for the help!

I like VZ grips...especially the Gator Backs. Here's a link:

I like the ones that come from Altamont.
Then again I don't have expensive tastes when it comes to 1911 grips.

I, too, like VZ grips. But, if I could own wood grips, they would be Nill.

What type of grip are you after? CCW/Duty? Show? Something in the middle?

CCW - I like my grips aggressive, so G10 is my choice

Nighthawks - Midway is VERY high, they can be found for less - http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=990432&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-Gunsmithing%20-%20Grips-_-PriceCompListing-_-990432
VZ has plenty to choose from - http://vzgrips.com/gun-grips/1911-pistol-grips-1

Show - Not my thing so maybe others can think of more

I'm trying to find something for duty and CCW. I also like G10. I would like to find some like the Kimber Warrior style but in a black G10

Is it the pattern you're after or the texture? I have never seen anything in that pattern, but for texture, I think VZ Aliens? are pretty close...IIRC.

I like the pattern. I can't even find anyone selling Kimber Warrior grips in the tan color! Hard to find.

Don't forget Sarge (www.thefinergrain.com) and Larry Davidson (www.davidsonknives.com/grips/grips.htm)

I've owned Larry's grips and they are the best G10 grips on the market IMHO. I haven't got any grips from Sarge because he's a jerk and is limited on what he can make. Maybe if he could make some Spiderman grips or something he may get my business.

I kid, I kid. Sarge is a great dude and his grips are simply gorgeous. I am KICKING myself for missing a pair that he just sold that I didn't see on his site.

I believe the saying goes "With friends like you, who needs enemies?" :wow:
OOPS! *Sarge says as he "accidentally slips" and the spiderman grips he was working on land in the fireplace*
:supergrin::tongueout:

To the OP, you've got so many quality choices in front of you, that if you're head isn't spinning, it soon will be. There are a number of people/companies who are putting out GREAT grips, and they all seem to have unique qualities and strengths to them. Figure out what's most important to you (texture, aesthetics, material, use etc) and then home in on those that work best for what you want in the end. With the choices listed above, you're going to be happy with your choice, it's almost guaranteed!

They were a special Glock edition that screwed on with a tacky bright 25th anniversary plate. They even came with an individually serial numbered set of underoos spidey underwear. :whistling::rofl:
