He makes a good case for the gen 4 just needing some actual use. BTW I never miss my 80 yard gong when rapid firing, he should do a bit more shooting. :faint:

Are we still trying to shoot that crappy American ammo they are selling these days? Like trying to run a Lear Jet on regular unleaded.

dude is beast. I always watch his videos when I see the ones that interest me; which most of the time is all of them.

Are you referring to American Ammunition ( A-merc) The company?

Or American made ammunition?

Funny, That american crap, ( and russian crap) runs 100% in my 2nd and 3rd gen Glocks, and my stock 1911 as well.....

Must be a design flaw in the Gen4s, they ain't the good product they used to be.

Hitting the gong at 80 yards is too easy for Hickok45, so now he's dribbling a basketball while hitting the gong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zkW52rQao4) in a recent video. Given his predilection for shooting at odd objects, I was sure the basketball wouldn't survive the video, but it did. Oops...I hope I didn't spoil the ending for others!

Seems to be good after running 1000's of rds which is good!
What if you had a spring fail or break, will you have to do this process again?
The 3rd gen's, I have thrown in brand new guide rod's in place and they have seemed to work from first shot on?
Not harping on the 4's (I want one my self), just wondering though?

I bought a slightly used G19 gen4 last week with the 03 spring and took it shooting this weekend. I put 200 rounds of federal 115gr, 50 rounds of PMC 115 gr, and 50 rounds of some 100 gr frangible cheap crap I found at the gun store. the gun functioned 100%. I am happy with my purchase

You're right, they're better.

How can they be better when numerous reports of trouble have come to light?

I personally have seen 2 Gen4 G19s, a G17 and a G22 malf so frequently at my agency's last qual with experienced shooters that our agency and the County put the on the forbidden list.

Now I admit they DO feel better in my hand, but a Gen4 just won't be adopted until good reports become widespread.

I've used my Gen4 G19 w/03 spring in three competitions to date:

11/21/10--Oxford, NC, Blazer 124-gr, 200 rounds
1/16/11--Roanoke, VA, Magtech 115-gr, 50 rounds
1/30/11--Roanoke, VA, my 147-gr reloads, 50 rounds

It has been flawless. I will continue to use it in competition in Roanoke VA, Lynchburg VA, Morganton NC, Knoxville TN, Marietta OH, Conyers GA and Oxford NC in 2011. All future matches will be shot with my light 147-gr reloads.

Danny, what are your 147 loads? I am looking at switching to that weight for practice like my carry 147s.

Did anyone else notice a master shooter using the slide stop lever to release the slide on a new magazine?

Is their some wrong with doing this? The Glock manual says you can release the slide with the slide stop.. :dunno:

Like trying to run a Lear Jet on regular unleaded.

Doesn't matter what sort of "unleaded" you put in a Lear, their engines are designed to run on kerosene (Jet-A).

Does anybody have an 03 spring from a G19 that has serious FTE problems. It would be very informative to send such a spring to Hickok45 and ask him to try that spring in a gun that originally had a problem with light loads and now doesn't. If the issue is really the springs, the problem should immediately resurface for Greg. If his gun continues to function fine with the Federal Champion ammo, then maybe we can start looking for what really needs the break-in on some guns. Glock doesn't seem to be doing any such testing . . . so maybe Greg can provide some answers.

Be sure you have a spring that you can use whilst the "affected" part is in transit.

He did mention during the video that some of the brass was close to not ejecting; they just fell out of the gun.

I actually liked the feel of the Gen. 4 G19 than the Gen. 3. But when I bought a new G19 a couple of weeks ago I thought with the problems they are having with the new ones I best get a Gen. 3. It's been good to go out of the box. A couple of friends have bought Gen. 4 G19's and have not had too many problems. The G17 seems to be the one that'a giving the most problems. If Glock fixes the problems I might look again. But for right now I'd stay away from the Gen. 4's.
BTW I've had the Federal ammo just seem to fall from several guns rather than eject solidly. Alot of difference between one of the Federal rounds and another. even in the same box. But they work o.k. in most guns.
