Hi all.

I've got a ar15 in 6.8spc with a factory quad rail installed. I've been wanting to put a harris or similar bipod on it for when sitting in the box stand and prone shooting. Can anyone recommend one and which adapter is needed? I would prefer a swivel one.

Thanks,

E

hmm...wonder if the promag adapter is worth the $8..lol...

it has great reviews on the various vendors sites that sell it.could get that and a 6-9 notched benrest 6-8 inch stand for under $88

I have been looking as well. I was thinking of trying the Pro Mag Bipod that is for a rail but not sure if it is a POS or not. Would like to hear some affordable options.

I have the Harris 6-9 with a Yankee Hill adapter. I wanted the LaRue QD adapter, but I just couldn't force myself to pay $80 for it. The Yankee Hill is essentially the same adapter but without the QD feature and it's only $30 from BCM.

I don't have a good closeup of it, but here you can see it with and without the bipod attached.

nicely set up....which harris bipod is that? You think there is enough room for the magpul AFG on there with the bi pod on a standard quad rail like yours?

It's the 6 to 9 inch. I don't recall the exact model.

I'm not sure about the Magpul AFG (A??? Forward Grip?), but here's a couple of side shots that might help answer your question.

hmm looks like it would be close....I'll try it out and see how it goes...if it doesnt fit then I'll just sell the angled for grip.

If you want to be able to move between rifles quickly with rock solid lockup at the flip of a lever, go with the LaRue. Otherwise, you ca get by with anothr adapter. I bought the LaRue/Harris combo because I sometimes move it to different rifles and the convenience and high quality were worth the one time cost.

I use the American Defense quick detach mounts with Harris 6-9 swivel bipods with notches.

well i finally got the thing mounted up on my rifle. The Harris bipod is awesome and I ordered the adapter from harris as well. Turns out it is the ymh adapter..there's a lil stamp on the side of it. Anyways I got the adapter mounted up and tightened down on my stag model 5 with the factory quad rail and the damn thing has some play front to back. I unscrewed it, mounted it back on, through a different rung on the rail and it still did the same thing. When I put my magpul ladder rail covers back on i just made sure it was butted up against and it seems to hold it in place firm now...this rail is missing me off...also on the top I noticed it doesnt line up straight with the flat top of the upper. It has a slight cant to it. Oh the humanity. Might send it back into Stag since it's a factory rail and have them replace it.

LaRue BRM-S w/ LT706

Relatively light weight, and has large swivel tension adjustment knob. A little pricey, but I am very happy with it.

Should be fine depending on hand guard length. This is a 15" hand guard with the Harris/Larue combo mounted as far forward as possible and an AFG right behind it.

How long is the AFG???Maybe I can measure the length I have available compared to the length of the AFG and figure it out
