View Full Version : ammo for my glock 27
i just traded in my speer gold dot hollow point ammo for some hornady crit defense hollow point. 165 gr. i was told that since these have the poly or whatever in the holow point, that they are better for defense.
anyone had experience with these or can give me any info?
If you were shooting a Kel-Tec, I would say to use the poly-ball stuff by all means. Using a Glock, you really have no worries. I use nothing but Gold Dot in my G27 and have yet to have any hiccups at all. (btw, on the Kel-Tec issue, I am speaking from experience.)
No experience, but you traded great SD ammo.
I have shot quite a few rounds of the hornady critical defense through my 27 and have had no problems.
I have fired only 50 rounds of that ammo through my G-27 without any probelms (to expensive for me to shoot much more at the range). I have watched test videos and t.v. tests on that ammo. Seems to expand better going through clothing with the poly filled hollow point.
Have used Speer GDHP in 165gr and 180gr Short-Barrel, and there has been zero problems.
Same with other quality SD ammo.
Only problem ever was an occasional malfunction WWB in 165gr, similar to the situation I've heard about underpowered 9mm 115gr in the G26.
You've got a great pistol in the G27.
i figured since the speer hollow points were such a huge opening, it would catch on clothing, etc quite a bit.
