Last week somebody posted here that Top Gun had Milt Sparks VMIIs in stock. I know a number of us on here ordered one. I did as well and mine came in the mail today

Fits the CQB Compact like a glove. Seems like a great holster. I have a new Glaco SB3 belt on order (other gun belt was a 1 3/4", this holster requires a 1 1/2") that should be here this week.

Anybody get theirs in the mail yet?

Thanks again to the original poster. :wavey:

That is quite a difference.

Looks like it has a LOT more leather down below and it's a closed end design now.

Ruggles has a 4". looking at Deep Blue's holster, it looks like the same leather as the 4"/4.25", but stitched to fit the 3"

Quack
01-31-2011, 19:50
if that is the case, i'm hanging on to my 3" VMII

I asked Greg that yesterday in a different thread. He said he sold it a while back.

Got it... I'm seeking a 3" holster, but it's a little more complicated sadly since I'm a lefty :(

I'm really not digging the looks of these newer 3" VMIIs either.

OUCH. Knedrgr has that same problem. He just bit the bullet and is in his 7 month wait for his DW CCO VM2. :shakehead:

I got mine in today as well. Mine looks like everyone else's. I am impressed with the fit of the gun. Currently, Im not crazy about it, but I have never carried in anything other than CBST style holster, so I'd have to get used to it.
What is break in on it like? Anything to speed up the process like conditioning it? Should I leave the gun in the holster or no?

It's like Christmas morning around the forum here today

Well except for all you bad boys who did not get one from Santa the postal man!

I normally carry OWB but I have heard so much good stuff about this type of holster I wanted to give it a try. I even bought some new jean a couple of sizes bigger than normal to carry in.

So new holster = new belt & new jeans.......

Oh crap I've become chick :faint:

I, too, normally carry OWB and like you I was... how shall I put it? ... influenced to go with the VMII.
Everyone raves about it.
Word of mouth is still the best advertising.

The VM2 has it's reputation (and NUMEROUS clones) for a reason. The 7 month wait is worth it once you get it.....or like you guys, trip over one occasionally.

The two different holsters appear to be HIGH RIDE vs LOW RIDE, no?

Quack
02-01-2011, 06:59
Same height. I don't think MS makes VMII's in High/Low ride.

Hey guys, glad you all got your holsters, and glad I could help!

It does appear that MS re-designed the 3" VMII, but I'm not sure if there is an actual difference besides the added leather on the bottom.

One reason is for the shear efficiency of production...one less template to be cut out and hold in inventory. It might be more efficient and less costly to hold more of the 4" template, as oppose to hold a separate 3" template.

If I would assume anything, it would be that it must be a lot faster for them. I'm sure their most popular are 4" and 4.25" holsters, that way, instead of cutting down the leather, they can just stitch it for either size. That would be my guess.

Wow. Got my new 1 1/2" Galco belt in the mail and assembled the VMII with the belt and CQB. What a solid feeling comfy holster. I have been carrying long enough to know better than to base a opinion off such a short time with the carry rig but what a solid start for the VMII. Things are looking good so far. :)

Thanks!! Ya I am not a fan of the LD's at all. I was going to go with the Operators, but decided on a little less aggressive for carry purposes. VZ was selling grips at SHOT and it was a no brainer to get them then. No shipping and discounted.
