Hey, my wife just bought a Springfield EMP 9mm. She went on a search for a single stack 9mm and that's what she chose. Since we are NYS, it will be a couple weeks before it is on our permits and we can actually shoot it :)
But anyway, it got me thinking that I wasn't even really aware of all the different micro 1911 9mm versions out there. Can anyone name them all, perhaps with links to pics of them all?
Admittedly, I'm a newbie to 1911, and only bought a Taurus PT1911ALR last year for the fun of it. But when she started her search, I was thinking of probably a Kahr PM9 or maybe P9, or some other polymer DAO single stack. She doesn't much like my Glock 26, I think because it is too wide. And she doesn't much like my Ruger LCP .380, because it is snappy with yet only .380 power. But she likes her S&W 637 .38 snubbie.
I've been looking at gun catalogs for a long time, and I must have just really glossed over or ignored those micro 1911 9mms out there. She looked at the EMP just because it caught her eye in the glass display case of various handguns. Held it, and it fit her grip nicely! She tried the trigger, and it was light and smooth! Liked the size of it, the feel of it. And it holds 9+1 rounds.
So, I guess you can say she's discovered the single action carry gun. She had to think a bit about the cocked and locked aspect of it. But she knows how to operate my 1911, so it didn't make her pause too long.
Since she teaches other women how to shoot, I wonder if there will be more converts to the micro 1911 9mm. Only downside seems to be they are more expensive than the DAO polymers.
