Hi all!
I had a SA 1911 GI in OD that I loved but alas found myself needing to release it for funds...I regretted it every since....I had big plans for it

I'm in a better place now and was considering a 3in 1911 for carry to replace my g30 for daily carry. I shot a kimber ultra carry and didnt really like the 3in too much. So I decided to go with a PRO length Kimber....
I present my new Kimber PRO CDP II.

Congrats! I would agree with you on that. Some people only put a magazine or two through to make sure, I like to put about 500 rounds through to make sure.

I like the CDP's. If I were you I'd go ahead and order the Wolff recoil spring for 4" Kimber's.

What's the advantage? and what weight would you recommend?

A lot of people think the springs that come in Pro's are crap. My Super Carry Pro would start to FTRB when it got a little dirty, the Wolff spring took care of it.

My 9mm Pro would not run with the Wolff spring. I just recently got a 45 cal Compact, so I will probably give them another try,

My 9mm Pro runs great with the stock spring, my 45 didn't. :dunno:

I have sold a lot of guns. There are a couple I really should have kept. Ak , hk 91 ,sig 239 and sig 220 I have more of each gun , but should have kept the spare one. I miss my glock32 as well. I have never sold a 1911. I have a springfield longslide that is perfect that I never shoot, I think of 1911s as family I guess. I had a colt twenty years sittin in the safe. Don williams built me an awesome ipsc gun on that frame and it is one of my favorites, shot a qualification course with it on saturday. Most of my guns are just stuff. A few 1911s will go to my daughter when I am gone.

Congrats! Looks great.
That looks like the Compact CDP, however, not the Pro CDP. :dunno:
They have the same length barrel, but the Comapct has the shorter frame. That's what yours is. Take a look at the other side.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw his pic. Wasn't sure if it was just the pic because that grip looked a lot shorter.

No, its definitely the Compact CDP, Paul.
They have the Pro length barrel, so I think that's where the confusion was.

:wow: Nothin like finding out you don't have what you think you had.

One isn't necessarily better than the other. I prefer the full size grip, but many prefer otherwise.
The Compact is a bit easier to conceal, I'd imagine.

Isn't it stamped Compact CDP II on the slide? :dunno:

I prefer the commander length guns too. I really dig that green SA, though. You're the only person I've known that had a "GI" SA and missed it. I think their "Mil-Spec" trim is the best compromise. I've been thinking of gettin one too. Dunno th, I also wanna send my 19 to Glockmeister.(if they ever get back to me...)

Actually, Pro Kimbers aren't commander length. They're a quarter inch short.
