View Full Version : Bought a new compact 1911

I just picked up a Citadel 3.5" Compact this week. I've only put 100 rounds of Blazer through it thus far but those 100 were problem free and very accurate. I looked at several brands at the gun shop and found the Citadel that they had on display to have the smoothest trigger of any of them. I own a Springfield Milspec Commander and the Citadel feels much smoother in every aspect. That coupled with the Novak sights and other upgraded features makes the Citadel a much better gun in my opinion.

Why thank you sir. I wanted a 3.5" back when I bought my Commander years ago. I am very happy with the size of this gun.

The Citadel Compact is just like my High Standard Compact Crusader and RIA Compact Tactical. They are fine shooting pistols. You are going to really like the Citadel Compact. Congrats.

High Standard

Looks good. I love my RIA. You shouldn't have any issues with it. Great guns for the money.

Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality. The trigger on this gun is comparable to my buddy's Kimber CDP but the gun itself is much heavier with the steel frame. The good thing is I don't mind getting a $450 gun a little beat up where I would have an issue getting a $1000+ gun scuffed too much.

Loved my RIA 3.5, same gun and amazing customer service.

What is the approximate cost of one? I was considering a commander sized (4 inch barrel) version but I may want to compare it to the 3.5 inch size after seeing yours.

How much shorter is the mag well of the 3.5 inch pistol compared to a commander or full sized 1911?

I got mine from Peach State Guns. They are close to the office so I ran by during lunch one day. The owner carries one everyday. He melted his slide and did an OD Duracoat on it though.

My dad took my Commander home with him. I'll snap some pics comparing them this weekend though.

I love my HS 3.5" 1911... I'm even carrying it now.

If they ever make a "RIA Mid-Size Tactical" I'm all over it.

Looks good KalishniKEV. I like the flush-fit mag in your Crusader. I want to snag a few for mine for carry. You get Wilson mags?

Nah, Chip McCormick 7's.

I originally wanted blued, b/c I thought the stainless would look funny... but it's actually a Baller look.
(for an inexpensive gun :) )

I am sitting here looking at what I always thought was my Springfield Commander. Turns out its a commander upper with a compact grip. Looking at it compared to online pics of commanders its rather obvious.

Ok, here's a few shots with my Springfield. 4" barrel with a compact frame.

Nice gun!! Can someone clarify the differences between all of these RIA's/citadel's/HS'? Are they all different companies or whats the deal?

Very nice!

Armscor is the manufacturer of several brands. In fact, Armscor has been making guns for CZ and other companies for decades. Legacy Sports uses Armscor to build the Citadel brand. Legacy also sells the Howa brand of hunting rifles.

Why thank you sir.

My dad had a drawer full of 1911 magazines and I found what I thought was a 6rd flush fit for it. Turns out its a 7rd flush fit. Didn't know there was such an animal. Its stamped "Kimber". This made me happy. Now I need to get some more of those.
