I would like to see you test the springfield custom carry

If the barrel is properly fit, the only parts I would expect to break would be the plunger tube coming loose, extractor breaking or ejector breaking. In that order. That's only if something broke. It would be totally reasonable to go 10K without a broken part.

1000-1500 between cleanings would be fine, but brushing out the chamber and wiping off the barrel bed every now and then will help out.

I've found Breakfree CLP to be a very good lube for extended shooting without cleaning, but I do like to apply more oil every 200 rounds or so.

A 1911 will reliably run filthy ass dirty as long as it has lube.

I'd like to see you run the Springfield, just because I've always considered the Springfields to be working guns and the other semi-customs to be boutique type guns. And I also have a custom Carry on order...

It's funny that you posted this now, I decided to do the same exact thing this year too.

I'm packing up all my junk and going back to the Glock 19 for a solid year.

A Glock 19 was my only handgun for a good long while and life sure was simple back then.

Sure, why not. I could use the extra ammo and help :wavey:

I'm predicting, if anything breaks, it will be an extractor. I have a spare all ready to go so I'm set.

I'll probably use a bore-snake and a simple wipe down/lube added as needed, but that will be the limit for me. I'll plan for springs changes at reasonable intervals.

I've thought about going back to a modern pistol but haven't for reason. I figure a year with a 1911 will make up my mind.

Step 1: Supply Check

I've been slipping on my case prep, I trim my cases if they were range brass. Until you trim them, you'd never know how out-of-spec some are.

I don't have everything posted, I think I have around 7K..

All set on primers, but I'm still going to order another 10K, on top of the 16K I have now

Don't have much loaded right now, maybe 1500-1800. I need my bullets to show up already

And I think I'll need another tub of powder, don't know if I feel like switching to 231 or not :dunno:

I think I know what pistol I'll pick. There are plenty of Baer's with HRC's so I wouldn't be proving anything there.

I can think of one NH that's over 10K, so again, I want something different.

I'm 99% sure I'll do this with the SA. Reason? I have yet to see a high round SA for some reason. With all the Pros out there, you'd think the owners would shoot them and not treat them as safe queens.

This is great I wish I could afford to put that many rounds thru my no name in a year but I am going to try and put 2000 plus what ever matches I shoot.

Reloading is the key, I think it costs me about $8 for 50 rounds. I'll have to put off all but the bare minimum for my other firearms, but it will be worth it in the end.

My departments 45 ammo has all been shot up some how......:dunno: But I did find police price on 230 gr American eagle 340 shipped for 1000 rds that I am going to jump on. Plus for all you northern Ohio guys, fin feather and fur is opening a second store in middleburg hts.... I might as well have my paycheck forwarded to them.

Can you PM me if they also sell to military at that price? I need some more 9mm, but Aim Surplus is out! :crying:

GJ, IIRC, WRC on 1911forums said Bill Wilson has over 120k rounds on his BW Carry.

So, my vote would be SA.

Read the same thing. And Pat Sweeney has said he has well over 30,000 rounds through his CQB without any issues. So, I'd say Wilson's pretty much have a pretty proven track record. I'd like to see if the Nighthawk can handle it.

On of our local guys had ~85K rounds through his CQB. He had the barrel switched out not due to lack of accuracy but his PF numbers were dropping. Only thing switched out was springs and an extractor I believe.

FWIW, I think any of those on the list above would do this. Any of them should handle 10K quite easily.

Haha, finally getting close to starting. Just got 2000 Precision Deltas and 1000 Zero's to test. I like the profile of the PD's, not sure which I'll buy exclusively.

I got my work cut out here, but this will be a make or break deal for me. I have high expectations and will not accept any compromise on performance. If I run into a problem, it will be known.

Now if only my pistol was here

If I'm reading this right you are going up to 10k. If you are reloading or rich can you push it even harder maybe 100k, well lets try 25k first. I think you would in order to break some of the guns you mention and no I can't send you ammo but lots of moral support.

My first choice would be the Custom Carry followed by the TRS. Sounds like a fun project.
