View Full Version : How do I remove the forend on a 500/590?
I'd like to have some idea before I dive in and break something.
The stock is cake, but the forend looks like it clips and slides in place.
A quick rundown would be greatly appreciated.
So long as you have the 590 style that has the two action arms connected to a metal "spool" type forearm that has the plastic cover on it and not the two action arms molded into the plastic of the forearm it is failry simple.
Remove the forearm assembly from the shotgun and look at the front. You will see two slots cut into the front edge inside the forearm, directly across from each other. Those are like screw slots for the forearm nut, which is the metal part that you are looking at. You can use a large washer or special spanner to unscrew the nut from the forearm assembly. Once that is off the plastic will pull right off the assembly.
Took a few minutes, but my mossberg is now in 12 pieces.
mossbergs are pretty easy to take apart. You planning on adding anything to it? Or did you just take it apart just cause
